We have ordered our GC but it has not yet arrived. To prepare myself for the expected problems I am already collecting information about them.
Anticipation is half the pleasure ;) .

The information below comes from DE/UK forums and VW documentation (VW Body Builder Guidelines Crafter).

There are 2 different water tap problems that I wanted to understand better.

1) Continuous running: Water in the kitchen tap runs when the tap is turned on and then keeps on running when the tap is turned off.
2) Intermittent: When the tap is turned on, the pump runs for about 20-30 sec, then switches off for 20 to 30 sec and then switches on again, etc. This happens repeatedly.

1)
is caused by moisture on the micro switch of the tap. The moisture causes a small current to flow between the open contacts. The sense input of the customer-specific functional control unit (CFCU) can no longer distinguish between on and off in a defined way and even with relatively high electrical resistance, caused by moisture, sees an "on" state from the micro switch, even though the tap is turned off.

Possible solutions:
Avoid moisture,
- Do not leave wet cloths etc. in the sink.
- Dry the opening of the tap with a cloth/paper.
- Pressurized air spray. As also used to blow out the keyboard of a PC. Spray briefly from below with the tap open, then close the tap again and the pump is now off. Works in normal cases, at least with light moisture. (Input from a German board member)

My opinion: VW should address this moisture problem with software changes and/or by adding hardware to the sense input of the CFCU. Switching to a different tap manufacturer is not a solution for this poor sense input design.

My solution, if it still exist (not tested yet): I would install a relay with very low current flow in the micro switch circuit so that the contacts of the micro switch can’t burn in.
This should be done in such a way that the relay is easy to remove and the original condition can be easily restored in case of warranty.

2)
This is a Software problem. The CFCU is in an error mode and can only be fixed by a reset.

Reset of the CFCU:
- Disconnect and then reconnect the blue connector in front of the passenger foot area installed on the right of the dash panel behind the glove compartment.
Or
- disconnect and reconnect the earth lead of the second battery.
Or
-Software reset, special OBD controller required

Bart
Great information Bart,

Let’s hope VW DE act upon the findings and amends the spec so the tap is fit for purpose.
One member here has returned the GC for this reason.

Best,

Will

Hi Bart

Thank you for the information!
Hoping VW are doing something about this problem behind the scenes.
