Seatbelt too short for infant carrier car seat?

I am trying to fit an infant carrier (Silver Cross Simolicity) on the bench seat of a 6.1 Ocean but the seatbelt is too short. I have read the posts I can find regarding car seats and haven’t seen anyone mention this problem? I don’t know if there is anything I can do to here - if I am missing something.. as this doesn’t seem to be a common problem? The manual suggests adjusting the seat but with the bench seat I can’t see this would make a difference.

It does fit on the front seat but I had wanted him in the back.

(For background we do currently have an isofix car seat but he is hysterical in it to the point it’s not safe for him or driver so a friend has lent us this seat to try and it is seatbelt only. I would get another isofix if I knew it would help but as it’s a non refundable item I don’t want to keep blowing £400 a shot!!)

Can you try him in some iso fit seats in the store to find one he is happy with before purchase? Maybe if he helps choose? (not sure how old or whether this psychological move would work on him)

A single belt is normally figured out pretty quickly.

You can get a proper, certified replacement (longer) seat belt for around £40 which can be fitted until the infant carrier no longer required; google will bring up a range of professional suppliers. Would allow you to use the carrier you want and much cheaper than messing around with alternatives.
I wouldn’t go anywhere near the seat belt extenders that are available though, in case that was a thought.

I used a seat belt buckler extender, to solve this problem for my kids seat.

Not sure where you’re based but we bought an isofix seat from in car safety centre in MK and had a similar experience with our daughter in that she just wouldn’t settle in it, however the company were incredibly understanding and let us swap it for another having tried her in it at their showroom and even refunded the difference. We bought another seat from them for our son and would highly recommend them. We tried a seat belt type and just didn’t feel it was as secure as isofix

Thank you so much for the kind offer! We are going to try him in big brother’s seat first and see if that helps. Thank you

Oh wow, that is great. We actually bought ours from mothercare 2.5 years ago because the 0-4 year car seat we’d bought from them wasn’t fitting out toddler (then newborn). They certainly didn’t offer a refund and were very happy to sell us a new seat. Which our toddler hated when he was a baby too.

Can I ask which the car seat was your child disliked and what was the new one? The seat we have the problem with is joie lie flat.
