I did yes, £450 a year
Did you try to get the Body Type changed using a Letter of Conformity from VW, as it was their mistake, well the Dealer in fact?

Oh, I actually thought it was more convoluted than that. Can I ask then, if the cupboards units and kitchen (and fridge) in an Ocean/SE were on a 'rail' system, allowing them to be removed ad hoc, would it still qualify as a Campervan? (EDIT - built by VW that way from inception)
If they could be removed by myself, probably. But seeing as they are assembled elsewhere and inserted using a purpose made hydraulic hoist, No.

OK. Let’s say the cupboards, Kitchen/ fridge were designed as modular, fully removable by yourself/owners, the same way the low storage cupboards in a 2 seater Beach Camper are removable or the multiflex in a T6.1 Ocean/Coast. Would the Ocean still be a Campervan within the parameters of your definition?

Wait a minute, the MP Horizon & Activity are camper vans according to Mercedes!
"The Marco Polo ACTIVITY is the variable and economical camper van for families and those who like spontaneous leisure activities." (presumably once they've loaded the tupperware boxes, the fridge and the cooker.
"...you will appreciate the Marco Polo HORIZON in everyday life just as much as you do in its role as a camper van"

But my Beach isn't. Now I'm even more confused. Life is clearly simpler with a Mercedes.
Indeed, campervans, just like our Beaches.

No, that only worked for vehicles incorrectly assigned by DVLA after the 1st April 2020. Mine was a November 2019 van and was therefore never going to change.

What do you think VW say

I agree, i have a 6.1 Beach Camper and consider it a true campervan.

Just like the MP Horizon & Activity: also true campervans to me.

Coast, Ocean, Nugget (Plus), Marco Polo and now Renault has joined as well with its Traffic based van (SWB/LWB). Also, all campervans.

To me, they all are campervans, ‘cause you can sleep, eat, sit and drive in them with either 4 or 5 persons.

I'm stuck in a Cali groundhog day. This thread has gone round and round.

The good stuff helping to see why one model suits some people and is a nightmare to others has been well and truly lost.

Time to lock it?

i simply think VW have got it wrong!
some (a very few of the usual suspects) must be right, right ? They keep banging on about the utter BS that’s what they do to get their kicks because they can’t use Twatter or Facebag anymore!
their antics are at the expense of this forum and its wider users

No, best to leave this one open, it’s keeping all the arguments in just one thread so the other ones are keeping on subject.

Apparently they are wrong. It sounds like the English dictionary and Wikipedia are too. Most bizarre.

Perhaps the civil servants in Swansea had a problem with the translation from Welsh?
Probably just threw it on the cabbage patch, irreverent remarks need to be treated like that !

Far too much unnecessary irreverent remarks from one poster , with no apparent intervention.
I remember your “Snowflake“ moment so I’m surprised
Damage is being done to this forum on an international platform by a minuscule minority, who can’t help himself doing damage to this forum and its members solely in the quest for his megalomania.

shut it down let him go ruin other genuine threads as well, why should he be offered a platform for his bile and irreverence.

Purely theoretical, as the electrical wiring, gas supply, mains supply are integral to the units, likewise the Mains charger. Also something would have to be done regarding the extra holes cut into the metal floor for the Gas Dropout, Water tank and Waste water drainage. Also the noise levels would rise significantly unless there were moulded trim panels inserted to replace the units.

Such beautiful language . Language often degenerates when the argument is lost.
Have a nice day.

But if it was possible, would you consider the Ocean to be a Campervan. Hypothetical or not?

EDIt- not a trick question, trying to collate your true criteria.

As it is built the Ocean is a Campervan. It has fixed camping equipment and the Specialist Insurance companies recognise it as a Campervan, not so for Beach which some companies won’t cover under their dedicated Campervan insurance.
