New T6.1 order delays

Don’t cancel, i suspect that either your build date will come forward or if you dig your heels in, VW may be a bit flexible if its close to the end of June date. At the end of the day, you ordered before they changed the rules and I understand that VW said to the dealers that they could manufacture and deliver all vans that were on order at the time.
I was also told VW UK have assured VW dealers that they will supply / deliver the orders in the system placed before November in time for 30th June. Fingers crossed!!!

Errrrrrr, sorry for the newbie question, but what’s happening on the 30th June?* It reads like there is a price increase coming? I’d just assumed that the price we signed up for back in August 2021 was the price we’d pay whenever the van eventually arrived.

(* Tried a search for 30 June with nothing obvious and would appreciate not having to scroll through 4K+ posts )

i can’t find the thread but there is one somewhere. Upshot is there’s a 3pc increase on a van delivered after that date, plus 2pc on options, regardless of order date. There’s an @itguy video explaining it, I’ll try and find it

edit: @Nate73 posted it already

Yeah, the dealer (eurovans Crawley) did suggest VW would be trying their best to turn these orders out before the deadline.

Well after almost 11 months, I finally got the chance to see my new California today (it apparently arrived at the dealers yesterday). I won't be able to drive it until it has had its dealer's checks and is licensed in early January, but it was so nice being able to see it in person. Thank you to all of you who have posted here over the time I have been a member, as it has been comforting to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
For your info:
Ordered 12 Feb 2021
California Ocean SWB 204 PS 2.0 TDI 7sp DSG 4MOTION
Differential Lock
Plus other additions

Congrats! We're expecting a practically identical van early next year, ordered mid April, getting excited now!

Brilliant New Years present for you - looks great!

If you (have time to) read the many hundreds of posts on this forum about delivery durations, you’ll see a very mixed picture from weeks to months to go through build and delivery. The other thing to say up front is that until your dealer tells you that your production slot is confirmed (usually a couple of weeks prior to the build), nothing is nailed on. Your build could easily move further forward (or backwards!) as factory and supply chain conditions change.

From my personal experience, my dealer informed me in mid November that the build was scheduled for the following week (last week of November) and it would take 3 weeks. This turned out to be accurate and by 15 December it was reported as built. The dealer has confirmed a couple of times to expect a pick up date in early January, so that looks like a further 3 weeks for transit at the most optimistic. I’ve not read many posts with a better timing than this, but there have been a few when a van seems to have just appeared at the dealer without warning.

My calendar has Week 22 starting 30 May. If the build does start then, it would seem to me (and I’m not claiming any expertise here) that on the balance of probability you may not see the van in June. However, I would have an open conversation with your dealer, on the delivery scenarios, and what this means to you. If you had a mind to for instance, it might be possible to reduce options etc to bring it in budget? Depends how wedded you are to a new CalI and the spec you’ve gone for.
Good for you you have your van and of course they can’t do much wrong to confirm a pick up date: the cali is finally built :D
@mjrw85 Here’s another post about delivery durations: the interim waiting period. The one where the ordered cali is announced several times with a predefined production date; have a look at that because a waiting period is finally announced after your order, so why not check at the end of that period? And look at the proposed building date. See if see if and if so how many times they shift it. What about ordered calis that disappear without a trace, as if they were never ordered? And where the dealer has no further explanation. It is indeed true that as long as you do not have a confirmed delivery date, you actually have nothing. And that is confusing and frustrating. Ours ordered at the end of August 2020. Delivered end March in a wrong colour and reordered -in the right colour- directly after that. Had (!) a production date somewhere in April (after being pushed forward in time several times). Now: gone.
So the waiting time will be a long period that you can fill with looking up and ordering stuff, reading on this forum about Californias and watching many videos on YouTube. But after some time you will want to know how the waiting period is going and then: how will you deal with it. Hopefully stay positive. Don't let it affect your life too much, because look what we're going through
I'm still not a quitter for our ordered coast (btw now out of the program in several countries!) but it is getting tempting to wait for the successor of the T6.1 california... After all, we still have our old T4 westfalia.
I'm a bit fed up with Volkswagens preferences: electric vehicles, the new ID Buzz and probably the successor to the transporter in collaboration with ford (and built in Turkey?). After corona and when Volkswagen has everything back together, it might not be such a debacle to get a new California ;)

Welcome ... a few Green and Whiters around , plenty of 'happy miles' ahead

I have received an email from VW Commercial notifying me of extended delays in my order. Very non specific, just a general "sorry for extra delay" and suggestion to contact my dealer for more info.
I ordered my Coast in May 2021 and was expecting build in March but this is an extra disappointment.
Will contact my dealer in New Year as don't expect much more from them but wonder if anyone else had received a similar update ??

I ordered an Ocean in June 2021 with a delivery estimate of April 2022, no similar emails here.

Yes, we had this one, only 3 days after the dealer gave us a confirmed week 2 build - I asked him to confirm if week 2 was still right, but nothing back from him

Checked our Coast order with Poole this afternoon, still status 10 (as expected) with provisional build date of week 11 now instead of week 16 (order placed in July). Aware that it can still move but going the right way at the moment

We’ve not heard anything since we placed our order in August. I contacted VW Chat yesterday after seeing it mentioned on this forum and was told to contact our dealer directly for an update.

In our general experience, the only time you hear from the dealer is when you ask. we've had 2 unprompted emails, both direct from VW Commercial, one a week or so after placing the order just saying 'welcome to VW' and then the other one a couple of weeks ago saying sorry it's delayed.

VW chat is a waste of time !
We've had one email from our dealer at the start of November saying we have an unconfirmed build month of January 22, not heard anything since.
My dealer has always told me if there are any updates hell let me know.
I know its frustrating but i've not pestered him and i've always been prepared to wait a year.
Order placed on the 31st march .

Thanks both, good to know it’s not just our dealer who is quiet then. We know our build date will be a long way off, but will contact the dealer in the new year to see if we need to start saving some extra pennies for the 30th June increase.

@Rikmac Fingers crossed for you that January is build month.

If you have a confirmed build month (Jan), how likely it that to happen? Or is crystal ball time?

I can only go on my experience in that I was told the build month for my van Ocean was Dec 2021, and I had a call from my dealer just before Christmas to tell me the van had been built and was awaiting shipping. If you are not advised of further delays at the start of the build month then it would appear there is a good chance the van will be built that month.

I’m at the same stage as @Reman, build completed and now waiting for the van centre to advise a collection date, hopefully in the next couple of weeks - although I’m aware some other contributors have waited many many weeks for shipping. If your dealer has told you the build is loaded onto the factory system and given a week number for the production, the chances are that this will happen … always with the small print ‘assuming all parts are available’.

The dealer told us they only ship when they have a full load, so that's why it might vary. Plus transport at this end

Very excited but trying to remain practical.
