New T6.1 order delays

In the UK, so I gather, VW in Germany is the manufacturer, VWUK is basically the Wholesalers and the Dealership the retailer. So VWUK is the buyer of all VW vehicles for the whole of the UK, from VW Manufacturing.
Is it the same hierarchy in other countries?
 
I just got email from seller. Ordered end of April 2021, Ocean 204PS with most of the checkboxes checked apart from 4Motion. Car is on a way to Switzerland and will be ready to pickup early Jan.
Wow that was fast! Happy for you but makes me angry! Same country, Amag I supossed, ordered in Dec 2020 and no news.. latest was Q1 2022.. and we didnt check all the checkboxes
 
Losing my patience, got email from our dealer with the attached image.
does anyone understand it?
No other explanation other than "just received from VW. Not the news you wanted but they will advise when the status changes . Hope it doesn’t spoil Christmas."

Again it seems we are pushed back and was promised in July that our final build date would be Week 48. It will be now 12 months since we ordered.

If your build week was 48 and the registration date is week 3 that doesn't seem too far out (7 weeks for build, shipping and then registration at the dealer?)

Thank you that's better explained to us than the dealer. so the planned date on 19th jan 2022 is when is should be moving.

Just my take, I'm just some numpty on the internet, but the 'Order on Track' in the screenshot doesn't indicate any problems and with a week 48 build you'd have never seen in this year anyway.

I'd say if the build doesn't move to complete by the second week of the year I'd be asking questions (usually takes 3/4 weeks but not sure if factory shuts down over xmas - I assume it does). Once out the factory you should be able to get the VIN number and then you're really only a month or less away from picking it up. I know the last few weeks are the worst but hopefully you won't be far away.

Hi Ceolgra. I had a week 48 build also and the MyVolkswagen ID updated with the VIN number and shortly after a picture of the van with the chosen extras on it like in the configurator. Have you registered with the My Volkswagen irish website to see if you have a VIN number?

yes i just did it now and we have a VIN number. thats a good sign!
 
Update from Breeze:

Vehicle pushed back another 4 weeks, I was updated 2 weeks ago with a build date week of 13 & now it’s build week 17. It was build week 6 in November so it’s dropped rite back unfortunately.

My build week got brought forward a few weeks (like some others have seen). It's now week 22, which I think starts the end of May.

Am I right in thinking building, shipping and registering could take up to 2 months? Which would mean it's unlikely i'd get it before the end of June cut off for the price increase?

I ordered through DTD. If i cancelled it now, it would probably cost £400. If I waited until i'm told the price is going to go up, would it then cost nothing to cancel?
 
you really had me worried there , and when i saw this it was 5am so pitch black but it turns out to have been bird poo!!! thank goodness lol :)

If you (have time to) read the many hundreds of posts on this forum about delivery durations, you’ll see a very mixed picture from weeks to months to go through build and delivery. The other thing to say up front is that until your dealer tells you that your production slot is confirmed (usually a couple of weeks prior to the build), nothing is nailed on. Your build could easily move further forward (or backwards!) as factory and supply chain conditions change.

From my personal experience, my dealer informed me in mid November that the build was scheduled for the following week (last week of November) and it would take 3 weeks. This turned out to be accurate and by 15 December it was reported as built. The dealer has confirmed a couple of times to expect a pick up date in early January, so that looks like a further 3 weeks for transit at the most optimistic. I’ve not read many posts with a better timing than this, but there have been a few when a van seems to have just appeared at the dealer without warning.

My calendar has Week 22 starting 30 May. If the build does start then, it would seem to me (and I’m not claiming any expertise here) that on the balance of probability you may not see the van in June. However, I would have an open conversation with your dealer, on the delivery scenarios, and what this means to you. If you had a mind to for instance, it might be possible to reduce options etc to bring it in budget? Depends how wedded you are to a new CalI and the spec you’ve gone for.

defender i have to say thank you so much for messaging, i was slightly overconfident in my reply and it started to play on my mind so i simply had to go out and check !! and the canvas from the canopy was sticking out half a cm from the front !! whats funny is i have had a week and i havent opened the roof yet so it wasnt me must have been the dealers, but cannot thank you enough for spotting i could have been driving round for weeks not seeing anythings THANK YOU !!!!

I also know to some it may seem daft that paying 2-3 grand more on a 70 grand van doesn't make much difference, but to me it does. If I was able to pay the extra, I would have ordered 2-tone paint, but I didn't. So there's no chance me stumping it up for nothing extra in return. I ordered an Ocean with not many extra options, so I don't think there's any room to wiggle with spec.

I think it's probably best to wait and see. Just seem's daft that if it's likely i'll end up cancelling, I can't do it earlier before the van is built or spec locked in etc.

I’m sure I’d feel the same way in your shoes. It might be worth talking to your dealer though. Once it became obvious that the promised 5 month delivery was going to be more like 10 months, my dealer gave me the option of cancelling without loss of my deposit. Your dealer has a booked van slot, so it could be quite an asset to them to sell it at a decent profit to a new client. That said, the production could get going faster, and you get it within June!

Don’t cancel, i suspect that either your build date will come forward or if you dig your heels in, VW may be a bit flexible if its close to the end of June date. At the end of the day, you ordered before they changed the rules and I understand that VW said to the dealers that they could manufacture and deliver all vans that were on order at the time.
