New T6.1 order delays

What date in June was your order, what extras did you have?
June 7th I ordered it but I not sure when the dealer put it on the system but around the start of June.

Metallic paint
Sports styling package
Wooden floor
Shower connection
Drivers assistance pack
Bed extension
Art valour seats

So you'll get MY23 then? Supposed to start from week 25 onwards right?

According to Caliboard.de in MY23 the fabric of the roof tent will change. Not sure how reliable this source is however ;)
Update from our dealer last night - we are still at Status 00 (Oct 21 order), but our model year has definitely moved to MY23 - so build will be after Week 25. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything more on the MY23 updates - nothing more has been updated on the Caliboard.de since that first info?

Guess it doesn't really matter, will get what we get - just curious, the waiting plays with your mind ..

Our dealer called to confirm our August 2021 order has been impacted by the side assist issue. If we choose to remove side assist, it’s likely the van would be delivered early in Q3 (July?), but if we keep side assist it’s likely to be much later in Q3, possibly early Q4. That said, he has other orders that opted to keep side assist, and they have then been given much earlier build dates (next month).

We’ll keep the side assist option and keep our fingers crossed our order number gets selected early in the VW build week lottery. Our original order form estimated a June delivery, but we’d always assumed it would more likely be September, so in reality we’re probably not going to be too far from that.

I’m guessing this means ours will be a MY23, so if anyone does see any information about changes that may bring, we’d be most grateful if you could share the details here please.

When we asked about price protection, our dealer said “we’ve got it until at least the end of the year”. On reflection, we’re not clear who “we” is, as in us specifically, them as a dealership, VW in general etc. We’ll ask for something in writing that will hopefully clarify this and give us some peace of mind while we wait.

Great to read people’s good news updates, can’t wait to see the photos of your shiny new vans soon.

June 21 Order Update: Ocean 150

Now Built & at been at German port waiting to be shipped since Monday.

Anyone else’s Cali waiting to be shipped?

Yes, heard something similar this week. Just a different form of waiting torture…

I've followed the Side Assist issue keenly, because I added Driver Assistance Package Plus (which includes Active Lane Assist with Side Assist) on our Beach Camper order. Last week I heard that my Nov 21 order is confirmed for production next week, so side assist didn't seem to delay it much. Maybe it's slightly different to the Ocean's Side Assist, or they are prioritizing orders that added it as an option..?

Interestingly, I just checked, and for people ordering today it's now not possible to add Driver Assistance Package Plus to any model, although the Ocean still has Side Assist as standard. As someone said above, the waiting makes you curious about all kinds of minutiae!

Finally! After waiting for 11 months, my new Cali (204ps, 4M, ordered on June 2021) has been collected from SMG Tonbridge today. I’m so lucky and happy to see many new Calis on the way! Many thanks to Matt and his colleagues for the best service I have had in the past time.

Update on my Coast order:

So close, but yet so far away...

I've paid the dealer by bank transfer - My coast has been taxed and registered and was supposed to be delivered tomorrow, but I received a call from the dealer this morning stating that they have found a 'wiring fault' under the kitchen sink. They are going to inspect in their workshop on Monday but cannot give any ETA and are now talking of a warranty claim.

I'm now out of pocket on campsites I've booked next week (half term - disappointing). The dealer claimed they have had a number of issues with vans delivered recently.

I just hope the 'fault' is not serious and that I haven't made a once-in-a-lifetime purchase on a lemon :)

Looks like so many Calis had build weeks19,20,21,22. It will be interesting to see how they will be coming next couple of weeks or month. Our build week was 20 so I hope it’s already built and waiting for next vessel somewhere in Emden. I don’t want to call our dealer. We’d like to be surprised.

You know, around 6 months ago it was touted that “tow bar issues”, and “complex automation options”, would delay delivery. The feedback from this forum was that it made no noticeable difference whether options were cancelled or not. You’re going to live with your van for a long time, so if I were waiting for my van right now, I’d stick it out with the options I have chosen.

I think the operative word there is "touted". With "tow bar gate" I'm not aware of anything officially coming from VW about delays other than some dealers reporting it as an issue and some not. In my case, when I added one and asked, my dealer said he wasn't aware of it being a problem.

With side assist VW have said in writing to dealers that there's an issue and asked them to give people a choice to remove the option, stating potentially different delivery timescales accordingly. VW must know they have serious part constraint issues in that area and need to keep their expensive production line running.

It will be interesting to see what happens - I'd speculate VW have over-exaggerated the possible delays to try and maximise the number who cancel, so I doubt those that decide to keep it will be waiting the 3-4 months stated.

That is not correct. I and a number of others were contacted by VW and given the option to remove the towbar and advised of expected delivery times were that option to be taken, a few months less than if it were to be retained. I opted for it to be removed and the dealer agreed to have an after market one fitted by their local supplier.
The irony is that when the dealer went back in to VW to communicate that, the day after they had recieved the communication from VW, they were told that my van had been allocated a build week and it could no longer be changed. Much to their surprise and embarrassment. The van was then delivered last July, within the timeline advised if I had opted to remove the towbar, with the factory fit towbar in place.
Make of that what you will; I thought it was farcical but an accurate reflection on VW at the time. Here’s hoping they have improved…..

nice one, I was down at SMG this morning, I probably saw your Cali out front i guess. Matt let me take it for a spin to try it out.. only joking. Based on your timing I have 3 months to go (also 4motion). Nice colour. By the way, if you want to see Matt on youtube being interviewed, he has promised it when we get to 500 subscribers and he is now regretting it... subscribe if you want to see matt being grilled. Great guy by the way, highly recommended if you are looking for a van.

After a long wait ordered Mid June 2021 we finally picked up Grey Jay from Frank Keane Liffey valley Dublin. Have to say we where totally looked after by Darryl from start to finish. We went to glendalough for a quick stop off on the way home to Wexford, the freedom is amazing. Let the journeys begin.
For all you guys waiting keep in there it's well worth the wait.Screenshot_2022-05-26-21-42-23-04_6012fa4d4ddec268fc5c7112cbb265e7.jpgIMG_20220526_120854.jpgIMG_20220526_160218.jpg

Agree. My dealer contacted me and said that our chosen options may cause added delays, but to be fair, they didn’t really push this. At the time, I was observing non-sensical variations in the delivery and delays in vans - via this forum. The dealer commented that they were being taken by surprise with deliveries happening out of the blue, and scheduled deliveries not happening for weeks/ months. From what I can see, nothing has changed. Another month, another reason for delay.

Most, if not all, of the new Calis on this thread have the front LED lights. They look great.

I am beginning to regret not speccing them on my Coast ..

Hi, what’s the name of YouTube channel?

I'd not heard that before, although you're talking about a van delivered nearly 12 months ago and the original post was referring to discussions 6 months ago which I was following as I wanted to add a tow bar around then (and did).

I think your example is probably a good indication of what will happen with side assist though - fully expect to see similar stories in the coming months.

Ah, must be a different ‘tow bar gate’ then……:)

Congrats it looks great. Spotted it in the valet queue on a video of my own van which I am collecting tomorrow morning!

Our BW19 did go into build according to our dealer but almost 3 weeks on still no VIN. Happy to see those with order dates after me getting there Cali’s but pretty annoyed at VW that my 150 Ocean order with nothing but Towbar added still isnt confirmed built, there seems to be no sense to the order priority at all. Anyway here’s hoping it will be done soon. I keep calling my dealer hoping to be surprised but not happening lol.

When I spoke to my dealer a couple of weeks ago he said they were seeing a lot of vehicles arriving when the system hadn't been updated so fingers crossed yours is one.

I hope yours will arrive soon as a big surprise like some other Calis. Like was mentioned many times in this thread could by possible not updated in VW system.
