Hello,

We are about to move from a T6 Ocean to a GC600.

What is the largest size of bottle that will fit inside the gas locker of the GC600 please?

I have 11kg flogas bottles which fit fine. I dont think anything larger would fit due to cupboard space.
Hope this helps

As per Andy F - it’s the 11kg in the red bottle that you need.
Much appreciated . So propane?

Do you guys and ladies carry 2 bottles? Our new van will be gas heated.

One Safefill, 10kgs and when it looks low I swap it out for another 7.5kg
It would take 2x 10kgs in the cupboard.

I used a 10kg Gaslight - weighs a lot less than the red bottles.

Thank you.

Where do you go to refill?

I've just been on to my local camping supplier, where I've always bought my gas and they have said they do not stock the 11kg cylinder but do do 6kg and 13kg

Flogas 10kg and a Gaslow 11kg for me ..carry the flogas for the BBQ only.....easier (and less destructive) than trying to fit a BBQ gas point. As it's easy to fill the Gaslow in Europe this is perfect for general van gas use including gas Truma heater

We have 2 11kg refillable Alugas bottles from Autogas in our cabinet which is more than enough for extended periods of time away. They fill the whole cabinet. Costly initial set up, but refillable gas much cheaper every time you go for a refill and no issues when you are abroad although you will need to buy a bag of adapters if you refill in `Europe.
However, if we were looking to set up again we would seriously consider a refillable autogas underslung tank leaving the whole gas cabinet free. A BBQ extension hose would be added on to avoid those costly little bottles.

Could not agree more...why oh why is the GC so poorly designed. The gas and water could (should) both be underslung and the cabinets should never never have been designed with opening doors ..we have removed them all to make access easy when in the move and usually have stuff under the bed.
I suspect future models will be way more practical

Hi, I am waiting for the delivery of my GC680 and debating which gas barrel to fit. I will be spending the majority of the first 12 months in Europe so I am thinking of going for the Gaslow. A couple of questions...

Do you know if the GC comes with the hosing & adapter for Gaslow barrels.
Are the Gaslow barrels refillable in Europe (Spain) without have the Gaslow refill system installed?

Hi
If heating with the Truma gas combi ( electric via hookup or gas)
In the winter and using gas - how quickly will we get through 11kg ?
Any thoughts all approximate of course.
Thanks

I purchased the steel braided hose to attach the Gaslow to the van regulator and the steel braided fill hose which I passed through the vent hole in the base of the gas cabinet. This was then firmly secured to underside frame with large cable ties to a fill point under the rear bumper.
Buy the multi fill adapter kit from Gaslow and you can certainly fill in Spain/Italy and France (probably others but we've done so in these countries).

Bit like "how far can you go on a single charge in an EV"
Depends
11kg bottle of butane provides a max of about 150kw of energy (I think)...the van is quite well insulated. Obviously if it's very cold outside less time than if it's warmer.
I think the Truma in our cg680 will consume at 150-250 g/hour when active ...so if v cold and cycling frequently I guess an 11 kg cylinder would disappear in as little as 44 hours...if warmer and cycling infrequently then longer.

If you can do it on electric your gas will last forever! If starting with a freezing cold van using gas + electric to get it warm quickly works well & then just use electric to keep it topped up.

If you have a tow ball you can attach a Gaslow bracket into the end of the tow ball mount as shown. I wanted an extrenal fill point to prevent any issues like being refused a refill in the van or having to remove the bottle to refill.

Snap....done exactly the same. The braided filler hose is cable tied to convenient bits on the underside of the van and passed up through the gas cabinet vent to the Gaslow tank. For extra safety I enclosed the braided hose in corrugated plastic cable conduit and reconstructed a vermin barrier around the vent with plastic mesh.
Works a treat

We use 11kg propane . We are now traveling for 1 month with 2 bottles and it’s more than enough.
Bigger than 11kg , will not fit in

Much appreciated . So propane?

We only carry the one, because we have the Diesel Heater. I guess you’d have the option for two in winter, one in summer. The bottles full are quite a weight. If I was gas heated would have two. Also though, for our one, we switched to Gaslow refillable, so we are never needing to find actual bottles, particularly in other countries, where the bottles are different.

If not using a refillable system then carrying 2 Gaslight cylinders will cut down the weight considerably.

Thank you. Yes I need to look in to these other options.

I rang around last week and found that few local stockists have the 11kg bottles....either 6kg or 13kg only.

So what is the benefit of gaslight bottles other than the cylinder weight? How do you refill? Do you still get a full weight of gas compared to a conventional Flogas or Calor bottle?

And then the refillable bottles, where do you go to get these refilled. Do you refill yourself or does teh stockist do this?

I'm still learning so all help is very much appreciated.

Thank you

Only advantage of gaslight is the weight. They are not refillable...you get the weight of gas printed on the side...so in this sense you get a "full charge" of gas
Refillable systems such as Gaslow require installation but avoid the issue of trying to do bottle exchanges (possibly impossible in Europe)
Try these
