Description
Kitchen Side Pillar Shelf (The Briwy Shelf) – T6.1 ONLY
After many queries and months of work, we can now finally introduce the new Briwy Shelf designed to fit the T6.1
Where the original Briwy shelf for the T5/T6 slides into the groove on the edge of the kitchen unit and rests on top of the passenger door, the new VW California T6.1 does not have the groove on the kitchen unit. This Briwy shelf comes with a bespoke aluminum rail that mimics the groove on the earlier vans.
The aluminium groove comes supplied with double-sided adhesive tape to firmly attach to the side of the kitchen unit, which blends in nicely with the interior of the van.
The Briwy shelf comes etched with ‘California’ and is made of strong, perspex plastic.
Designed to create more worktop space, ideal for kettles and mugs etc.
Please note: this is for the T6.1, if your van is a T5/T6 please see our other listing: https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/shop/product/kitchen-side-pillar-shelf

Peter Young (verified owner) –
Was a little bit sceptical at first especially given the price and the need to adhere a rail to the kitchen unit, but have now used this on an extended trip and found it excellent. Only dropping one star for the price which is a bit steep, and the lack of a nicer method to secure it.
This sits in a great position and comfortably holds things like an electric kettle (if on EHU) or phones for charging etc etc. It didn’t get in the way of us using the roof bed and it seemed sturdy (though I’d be especially careful to prep the surface for the adhesive, just to be sure).
It stores neatly in the back seat pocket and slips in and out of place easily – though maybe a little too easily. As a precaution I used a bit of foam to wedge between the end of it and the passenger window which just eliminates the possibility of it accidentally being knocked out. You also need to remember not to open the passenger door, though I made this mistake and amazingly it stayed in place – though I wouldn’t want to risk repeating that.
All in, very happy with this and thankful of the little extra workspace it brings.
