Description
Replacement VW California Central Control Panel Knob (Black)
In the colour BLACK, as pictured.
Due to a design fault in the original VW Control Panel, it is common for the knob itself to begin to fail to engage when using the menu section. This replacement knob is not an original VW Part but should cure the problem and allow you to use the Control Panel as normal.
Below are some instructions which are available as a download. Although the instructions are for the genuine VW replacement knob, the fitting is the same for this replacement.

Peter Skelton (verified owner) –
Bought this item as the official VW one was not in stock plus seeing as it was the VW design that was faulty I thought it might not be so bad getting a different design.
I was wary of taking the control panel off as we had not long had the camper long and it was the first ‘job’ on the van a 9 year old T5 Ocean.
Having studied all the (very helpful) videos and instructions here and on YouTube I took the plunge.
In the end it was very smooth. The new knob works a treat and so much better than the old one which had one of the 3 internal spines snapped off (hence very dodgy selection on rotation). The new knob has a sold connector so no spines to break off.
A few tips. I didn’t need to disconnect the 2 ribbons and this was fine and made the job easier.
The 3 sockets in the back were stiffer to take out than expected and it is a fiddle with the control panel still connected by the cables.
Take your time!
It is a shame it is black and rather stands out but other than that it is great and so reassuring that we are not suddenly going to have no control panel.
