I've booked-in my Beach to a local VW Commercial authorised repair/service centre for the start of March for its first service. It was bought new in March 2019, but has only done 8,500 miles. The service plan I bought said first 'minor' service should be at 20,000 miles (or 2 years) and the 'major' should be 2 years after. As it's a California, is there anything extra that they should be looking out for (or that I should ask them to look at)? Or would they be justified in viewing it as just a glorified commercial van, with no need to treat it differently? I was thinking about checks on the paint/seals around front of the pop-up roof, and/or other areas/features that are relevant an specific to a California.
The other question is whether anyone would have reservations about going to VW 'approved' centre, rather than a dedicated VW dealership service department? Because I do have the option of going to one instead (i.e. Lookers have just sent me an email reminding me my first service is due). Maybe I should ask both of them whether they have in-depth 'California' experience - or is this being a bit precious?
