2022 T6.1 Ocean Fuel Consumption

I would say your consumption is kinda high.

My 204hp 4motion does between 35-40mpg, but that is in the Netherlands with lots of motorways and no hills.
I think most people take it as read that the Netherlands journeys will not contain hills.

The Netherlands’ highest hill, Vaalserberg (though it is also in Germany and Belgium as the summit is the tripoint of all three countries).

I'd walk if I needed to - one fan cycles to every game & has done for the last couple of seasons to raise money for charity.

We are under no illusion this season was always going to be a difficult one.
We've spent £17m on players, previously we've never spent more than £1.4m in a season. The other £160m premier league money has gone in the bank to pay for the new stadium.

It's a calculated risk - spend little on players or gamble like Forrest did last year & spend £200m on players with no guarantee that it will keep you up. When you look at the likes of Chelsea borrowing an extra £800million we really are in a different league financially.
The new stadium will be great for Luton. Brentford’s new ground is fantastic and a boost for the local area. Looks like we may be rivals this season, but there only needs to be three worse performing teams :)

Well.. we have some elevation in our area, up to 100 meters above sea level, we live at 10m. ;-)
That would be a bump in the road then friend, not a hill, by any stretch.

The Nederlands are famous in Europe as being flatter than a witch's tit.

My California has now done 12000 miles and has just returned an average 37 mpg on a trip to the Scottish Highlands and 36 mpg on a trip to Southwold, so i guess im happy now with the fuel consumption.
My T6 seemed up improve over about 12k.

Just completed two return journeys that returned over 40 mpg according to the on board gauge, later verified by refueling and total distance travelled on that tank full. First journey was Gloucester to Bristol return (computer average 41.2 mpg) and the second Gloucester to Weston S Mare return which came out as 41.8 mpg. The full tank averaged 38.2 mpg. My 150ps Ocean has just clocked up its first 1,000 miles. It had 700 on the clock when I collected it last week.

A run to North Yorkshire up the A1 and back the next day, very windy and cold weather. It averaged 41mpg and I was driving 70mph most of the way. Two up, all our gear in the van.

I’ll take that.

A local run of 30 miles the previous day on a variety of road types got 32mpg, starting with a cold engine.

My Tiguan has the same engine (albeit 190ps) and it improved with age. On a run, after 35k miles on the clock it can easily beat 50mpg. The Ocean will never do that but at a similar mileage the Tiguan wasn’t any better. I’m also curious as to, like the Tiguan, consumption improves in warmer weather…

I’ve got standard 18” wheels on the Ocean, similar size on the Tiguan.

My diesel MG ZT Diesel (BMW Powerplant) always gave better mpg in warmer weather,
in warm weather in early September I averaged 42mpg in my DSG 150 Ocean both on the way down to, and back from Angouleme in France. Sat at motorway speeds (70ish). Now the colder weather is here I’m more like 35-38 on long runs.

I’ll be moving from full electric back to Diesel when I get my California.

At the moment, how much does it cost to fill up a full tank?

£115 approx

80 Ltr tank times by cost per litre!!!
Hope you don’t run totally empty; not good for the system, let alone the stress.
How far you go on a tank full depends on many factors; but we reckon on about 500 miles, so fill up at about 400/450 miles.

My trip computer shows well over 620 miles range when full. I usually fillup when the range hits 30-50 miles.

Remember that you shouldn't let the tank go under 1/4 level in order for the regen process to run.
On that basis
70ltr tank takes 53ltrs
80ltr tank takes 60ltrs.

Hit 77,5 litres a couple of times when filling up my 80l tank.

Yes but, I’ve a lead foot and it’s a 4motion 199 bhp now done 64K

Do you run your Cali in Sport Mode? Thats probably is less fuel efficient. I also have 4Mo and a 204HP engine but tend to feather the accelerator and shift to manual when the engine management insosts on inconveniently downshifting. I will also get it to adopt Eco mode as often as possible.

@Corradobrit same engine and 4motion here. Did about 29000km so about 18k miles so far. Averaged 32 mpg (11.33km/l). Driving around with bike rack, I guess it has quite an impact on consumption as well.

I don’t find the tailgate bike rack adds much drag if any, hills, temperature and wind are worse.
2 bikes on tailgate at weekend was about 36mpg, this am with none 44mpg, 150 fwd Ocean. Overall last 320miles 38.5mpg.

80 litre tank on a beach T6 150 dsg, cruising at 60mph good for 750 ISH miles, better in hotter climates (50+ mpg), I get 30mpg towing a caravan

I have an average mpg of 37 (7,6xx) over 120000km (started recording at 80000km).
I can get up to 52mpg on highways with wind in the back. Then I can drive for over 1500km on one tank of diesel (80 liter).
Van is also used for home work trips (12 km).
Max speed on highways is 110km/h or less.
Standard 215/65/16 tyres, 140hp, manual, van is from 2009 (model year 2010).
Could be better, but I am nowhere near to hypermiling. I am always the first off at green lights, I always try to drive the maximum allowed speed. Only highways I don't do the max speed if over 110 km/h.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you fill it up with a decent amount each time so it comes back above 1/4.
Would only be a problem if the tank never got above 1/4 full so never did a regen.

My feeling is that the behaviour of other drivers, and general road conditions can strongly affect your own economy. I’ve just done 6 round trips of 320 miles, all identical routes with about 90% of the route on motorways/ dual carriageways. I very rarely get above 70 mph, and usually hover around 67mph on cruise control. The best trip economy I got was 47mpg, the worst was 38mpg. Mostly, I got around 44mpg.. It’s the stop-start traffic flows caused by traffic bunching up, and also the amount of reduced speed zones limiting you to say 50 mph which impact, negatively and positively. The overall trip times excluding stops didn’t vary much, at around 5 hours. Average overall road speed worked out at between 58 and 64mph.
