I paid for the All-in warranty only to discover 7 months later that my van still had an extended warranty from new, taking it from 3 to 4 years. I have contacted VCVFS and questioned this and I asked for the warranty element of the All-in to run from the expiry of the 4 year warranty. They have flatly refused to do this and said that ‘as a matter of goodwill’ they will close the whole plan down and refund me £443.54 as I have already used up £444.46 worth of MOT and Oil service.
I feel quite put out and angry about this as I paid £888 for the All-in plan because VW and the dealer advised me that I could not take out the All-in plan until my existing warranty expired and I wanted to maintain cover. I believe that I was mislead and (probably) mis-sold a plan that was not really necessary as that time.
All I have asked for from VCVFS is to put back the start date of the ‘warranty element’ of the plan so that it will give me 2 year’s warranty extension when the current one expires. I am not asking for a refund and for the record I certainly would not have used the main dealer for the MOT and Oil service that I have had at a cost of £444.46. I can’t help but think that VCVFS are holding me to ransom over this (to be polite!) and that my claim is not unreasonable. I am simply asking to be supplied with what I have paid for.
Has anyone else experienced this? What would you do?
I think this would be viewed favourably in the Small Claims Court.
