Awning - word of warning!

Folks,
I tried to unwind our awning on Sunday at St Andrews, but couldn't get the 2 legs to lock, I looked a right t**,.

Im assuming it's fairly simple but any tips would be appreciated !

You have to pull the plastic lever upwards-yes it feels like it will break-but it wont. Subsequent use will free it off.

Just like that ;-)

There is a very good YouTube video here that should help.

Don't forget to at least peg the legs down or use a strap to really hold it firmly down. See some posts further up from people who didn't.

We use rock pegs and a tie down kit. If we are away for a weekend the awning gets used like this all weekend.

I'm liking your awing set up,
could I ask where you got the awning sides from and do the attach to the van awning ?

They are cheap (£20) Quecha tarps from Decathlon. We have sewn a kador strip to one for the front panel and the sides are supported by Thule tension rafter G2 poles. We use three, one each end and one in the centre to keep the awning fabric supported in case of rain. The awning is a Thule Omnistor 5003 (3m long with 2.5m reach) so plenty of room underneath. Makes for a nice sheltered space when we don't want to put up the Vango Galli.
