Back seat won't budge forwards or backwards

Hi folks, I would appreciate a bit of help - any ideas why my back bench seat will not slide forwards (or backwards) to allow me to make it into a bed? The back will lower but there is no room for it to lay flat without the bench sliding forwards. Used it before so know what to do with the lever on the right of the drawer etc. Cleared out the boot and found nothing getting in the way that I can see. Bit stumped. It is only 6 months old so is in warranty, but it is such a hassle to take it there, get a train back home etc ( they seem to have a serious shortage of hire cars in VW garage at Dyce). Any ideas much appreciated.

Have you tried sittng in the middle of the bench, pulling up the lever and then shuffling it backwards and forwards.
Some times if you are pulling from the side it just jams up.

I think it might need a trip to the garage - have tried all the tips apart from the coat hanger one. Thanks for your help with the links. Will let you know what happens.

When you pull the lever, put your thumb at the top to give you more leverage, after the lever stops pull it a bit more and that should release the catch.

Yes! Been popping in an out to try things all evening and this tip has just worked! Thank you all - so good to have the back up from the forum - you have just saved me a whole lot of hassle.

This happened to me too this weekend. The seat got jammed forward and I had visions of having to spend the next 24 hours with it in that position. Gave it the extra yank and it freed. Relief

Same happened to me. Catch seems to require quite a lot of force.

Sitting in the middle of the bench and bouncing while pulling on the lever freed mine on the third bounce!
