Blue motion not working?

Mine cuts in too much, if I stop for a moment at a roundabout for instance the engine cuts out, it's an absolute pain and I would be interested to know if it was possible to code it out permanently or better still change the cut off delay. A friend has a 2 year old Passat and his stop start seems to work differently as it seems to have a 2-3 second delay in cut out. Perhaps they have changed it on new models to make it massage the fuel consumption figures?

Sounds like the T6 cuts out a lot more than the T5, my T5 only cuts out if in neutral and clutch up, I presume you don't wait to pull out at a roundabout sitting in neutral?
 
I don't think he has a clutch! My manual T6 behaves the same as yours

Just to clarify, it is a DSG (in "Drive") and up to a few weeks ago the SS was very keen to cut in to the point it was annoying. Just recently it hasn't come on at all, and although I don't miss it terribly, it may be a symptom of some other malaise.

Regarding hook up, I had it plugged in as it also charges the vehicle battery.

Next time I'm passing the dealer I'll pop in and ask them to check the fault codes.
 
My SS did not work after some 700 miles. I put it down to three short journeys that may have left the battery a little low. Just over a week ago I was preparing for a weekend away and tried to enter the locations on the sat nav with the engine off. I had a warning that the 12 volt battery was low and I should turn the engine on. I did that and subsequently connected the EHU for 12 hours. The next day I drove about 50 odd miles with the SS inoperable.

When arriving at the destination, the radio gave the same low voltage warning. I called breakdown and the man did all the relevant tests and could not find anything wrong. The alternator was pumping out around 70A to start with and then settled down to under 20A. The load test on the battery looked okay but the battery was just charged for about 15 minutes by running the engine. We carried on with our journey using hook up overnight and with the engine starting though reluctantly and no SS until the return journey home when all seemed fine.

The next day, the battery was almost dead. The Cali is booked in with the dealer for next week. They have to go through a VW test procedure to prove that the battery is at fault before it can be replaced. That's an overnight charge and load tests etc. during the following day.

I think it's the battery not holding its charge. We will see.
 
Ours is temperamental but we just live with it or turn it off, think it's a bit of a gimmick anyway....
Tend to agree, have had trouble with SS on
other vehicles.
Deliberately chose a non SS Cali, one less thing to worry about.
 
Earlier this year I posted about the interesting situation when the start/stop cut in just after pulling away with a cold engine. I had been parked up for several hours on the clifftop carpark at Woolacombe. Went from second to third gear after pulling away and the start/stop A came up in the MFD. The engine cut out and so did the power steering! I managed to stop but it was a bit un-nerving as there is quite a drop just beside the road. It happened twice before when approaching roundabouts going from third to second gear. I managed to coast around the roundabout again with no steering! It spent a few days at the dealers in January they found no fault. It has only happened once since then and that was approaching a junction. I've put it down to my rubbish driving style but maybe my system does have a fault?
 
It's sounding to me as something I will switch off. Has anyone done so on a T6 with one of the OBD dongles?

Not Available as an option. Mine works perfectly in all situations when it is supposed to work.
 
I used my VCDS (you need the full version for programming) to change the Start Stop so it can be done, once I get our Cali I'll look into it.

That would be great, it seems it used to work fine, in the T5, but they have made it more aggressive in the T6 to its detriment, and I for one would like to turn it off or better still be able to opt in rather than opt out.
 
Sounds like we just need a T6 to give it a try with our Dongles. Anyone in or visiting Bristol can try mine and I will try myself when VW oblige with delivery of mine

That is effectively what I did, reversed the programming of the SS switch so that at startup the button is illuminated and you have to press it to enable.

You do need a Full VCDS as the BT dongles can't do the programming.

Agree with Loz. Dealers are reluctant to recode. I asked for the auto wipers to be turned off. Complete refusal. (Safety issue sir). A few minutes VCDS and it's sorted.
 
Sussed out why mine wasn't working - disconnected the towbar electrics for the cycle rack and it started working again. So it must be disabled for towing! :)

I recently had a removable tow bar fitted by Westfalia in Bristol. They only fit the 13 pin socket now which fits well onto the VW electrics apparently. They gave me an adaptor which I can use with my 7 pin lampboard for the bike rack. I asked if it was OK to leave the adaptor in the socket all the time, thinking the only problem might be it falling out. He began to list the number of things that are turned off when there is something plugged into the trailer socket. He started with reversing sensors being deactivated, I think he also mentioned the rear fog light. So StopStart being switched off just adds to the list.
 
With the official towbar electrics you could have a caravan connected and be charging caravan battery and running 12v fridge etc. I don't think it can differentiate between a caravan and towbar bike rack as it is just a microswitch in the towbar socket.

I think you are right. VW Bristol used to use Wesfalia to install their tow bars before taking it in-house.
I was just interested that there doesn't have to be any sort of load plugged into the towing socket, even the adaptor is enough to deactivate certain features.
 
I keep one of the halfords 13-7 pin adapters plugged in permanently to our factory fitted electrics. it has absolutely no effect on Stop start, reversing sensors etc.
Once the bike rack is plugged into it stop start stops & the reversing sensor display shows trailer attached.

The adapter I use is the basic plastic socket about 50mm long which takes a single 7 pin plug, not one of those that has 2 cables attached for 2nr 7 pin sockets.

If the adapter being used is enough to fool the electrics into thinking there is a trailer attached, it should trigger the bulb blown warning light on the dash when it senses that the trailer indicators don't work?
 
Just an update on #29. The dealer fitted a new engine battery in the end even though the vehicle was a couple of moths old. The breakdown guy who was a VW specialist was adamant that the battery was good and there was a leak via some electrical module that refused to go to sleep even after the ignition switch was removed.

SS works normally. See how it goes!
