I wanted to put a couple of coat hooks above the sliding door and bought this item. There are no instructions that help at all - they’re pretty hopeless in fact - but seem to require drilling into the side of the van. I’m a little reluctant to do this due to my, ahem, DIY “skills”….

Has anyone fitted this and can you tell me if this is risky? I’ve a Cali 6.1. Thank you! Coats on the seat for now…

Picture? if drilling is required I'd avoid like the plague.

One assumes you mean this? Looks like it just clips in.

Edit. Thanks to the power of Google, here is the guide.

I wouldn't be drilling like it says.

They are self drilling/ tapping screws, if you put them where shown there is no chance of hitting any cables. from memory the actual screws are stainless steel so won't rust.

Yes that’s the one. Stupidly I presumed they clipped on to the roof rail somehow but the extremely useless instructions say to drill into the metal somewhere. As the wife says, me and a drill are best parted…

For us, coats in a campervan means macks, which come with hoods, which happily fit over the front head rests. This then limits the need to make holes in our preciousness. :happy

We do same. Drape over the seat when turned. For hanging we have some 3D printed ones that attach to the headrest post from Etsy that hold 4 jackets.
