California T6.1 Stops production 1st June!

Volkswagen have announced the current shape and body California will cease production on the 1st June. With such a small window I can imagine the order books will shut soon.

Multivan or Ford collab?

Sorry, don't quite understand. The Multivan Cali Concept will be the T6.1 replacement? And the Ford collab based on the Transit Custom will be the new Transporter without a Camping variant?

Traditionally factory summer shut down and new model line setup for late summer production start.
Won't be as simple as stop one model on a Friday with new model the following Monday.

Too small. Pity. I suppose the quality converters will fill the gap.

2nd hand Cali values will shoot up once production stops. Given that there is no VW alternative offered.

Now is an ideal time to buy a good spec 2nd hand van.

Any news on when Grands will start coming through on the updated Crafter Tom? Seems the summer might be a good time for anyone with a T6.1 to look at that switch if they‘ve been toying with it.

I don’t personally think you will see any until after the summer maybe longer.

VW mattress was a two piece one in a t5.1 Single piece in a T6.1, overall dimensions were the same.

The new upper bed with dish springs leaves a little less height for the mattress than the previous slatted bed.

Because the is a lump in the bed baseunder the T5.1 mattress, the small infill piece fits one side of it & the main mattress fits the other side . On the T6.1 there is a completely different bed base & its flat right the way through.

See below for a pic of the T5.1 you can see the join at the foot end.

If you want a topper to go over the VW mattress its irrelevent, if you want to replace the vw mattress it is important.
