Hi. I enquired of VWCS as to the cambelt change interval for our 2020 Coast. The advice was 133,000 miles and no time interval. Have others got the same for their 150 DSG Californias?
That’s correct.Hi. I enquired of VWCS as to the cambelt change interval for our 2020 Coast. The advice was 133,000 miles and no time interval. Have others got the same for their 150 DSG Californias?
Thanks. Had seen such conflicting views on this but I suppose it depends on the year and model. That’s correct.
Yes I think I’d still look to change it at 100,000 anyway just to be sure.Mine (T5.1, 140hp manual) has a lifespan of 210000km, no time.
I changed mine at 160000km, after 11 years. Still looked as if it would have made it until the mileage mark.
I changed everything at that time: waterpump, all the tensioners and guiding rollers, including the aux belt, tensioner and guiding roller.
Hi Pete,I had my van serviced last week and I asked about the recommendations for the Cambelt. They said 135000 miles I think but the thought that going near this figure could be a recipe for disaster. The technician said on this own cars he changes the belt a lot more often than that and he said he changes the oil at 6000 miles. I guess if you can do it yourself then the tasks are fairly cheap.
One thing I did ask was would the all in one warranty cover a cambelt failure and the service manager replied no but VW might give a 40 % contribution to the costs for vehicles under 6 years old.
So my concern is that if I follow the VW recommendations then I could not claim on the warranty. Does anyone know if this is true and has anyone been able to claim for a claim failure under warranty.
Many thanks Pete.Hi Colin
I have used the dealers in Bristol in the past and they have been ok. I was recommended the dealers in Hereford. In the end I went back to Eurovans Crawley where I brought from as they have been very good to me in the past.
