Looking for recommendations for a trip from Rotterdam heading north via Amsterdam through Bremen, Hamburg and ending up at Flensburg northern tip of Germany. Any campsites, cities, museums, places to visit etc wold be helpful. TIA,

Here's a start : recent someone asked for places in Holland

Need i say where i think you MUST go ? Or is it allready on your list ;)

Cheers HC, I presume you mean Campercentrum ;). Possibly hooking up with my Danish relatives in August so looking for ideas. :thumb

Begin september is the meet in Denmark , you could join ?

Unfortunately school prevents us from the September meet, would have loved to.

We have just returned from 5 days in Holland. Rotterdam is great fun. Highlights were the Markthal - a huge covered street food market and the cube houses. From Rotterdam you can take a ferry (with your bikes if you have them) and visit Kinderdijk. These are a group of historic windmills set in the most sublime scenery. It is busy but if you just walk a bit further on you lose the crowds.
We stayed at a campsite a a 15km cycle ride out of Rotterdam on the river where we watched a constant stream of huge riverboats pass by day and night. Fascinating. The campsite was called Recreationpark Oude Maas. Highly recommended. F51C3D5E-4BD4-4DB1-BF57-45B182ABCE90.jpegDA747376-981F-461D-8EBE-8E286D639448.jpeg

Thank you Sally, I will check them out. :thumb

Try Camping Waldwinkel. Great little site on the edge if a forest, by a lake and not too far off the autobahn. If location works it’s a good one night stop over.

Hi,

you want to visit your relatives in Danmark? Why not have before a visit with your ancient relatives (vikings and anglo-saxons) in Haithabu? On your way, I think ,you take the autobahn (A7) from Hamburg to Flensburg. Nearby ( 15 Km ) lies the campsite (www.campingplatz-haithabu.de) with a nice view over the fjord “Schlei” to the town Schleswig. Now 15 minutes walk to the new UNESCO World Heritage with the interesting Wiking Museum Haithabu (https://haithabu.de/de/startseite) and the “Archaeological Border complex of Hedeby and the Danevirke” (https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1553). Full of new impressions there is also worth visiting ( 15 minutes by bike) the museum island of Gottorf Castle (https://schloss-gottorf.de/en/homepage). At least you have walk ( 15 minutes) to the nice town of Schleswig with the impressive cathedral.

Greetings from the border of the Baltic Sea
