Carpets or not?

UPDATE, LINK & extra info:

I did loads of research for mats and found Marvel Mats. Available online or in Dunelm, now £35. They’re dirt trappers and rubber backed but fibres are locked in so it can be cut and won’t fray. For our Ocean I got 2 x 80 by 150cm for the living area, that size would fit the Beach. Because of the stripes the join isn't very obvious. They're simple to roll up but best of all, easy to clean (just a shake, a brush, hoover, sponge or hose down - I machine washed mine and one shrunk a teeny, tiny bit). I’ve got the blue/grey stripy design, looks great in the van, is comfy under barefeet and gives the van a cosy feel.

I was lucky enough to get another that was damaged at a good reduced price so did the driver's cabin, between the seats and a bit for the topof the between seats Really Useful Box.

2 of 50x150cm Marvel runners for us cut nicely into the corner behind passenger seat. When we need to move the bench we just put one on top of the other. Shake off when needed currently £25 each. Can see not everyone's choice of color or pattern but was very limited in what they have, they look much nicer in real life & reasonably deep pile & washable.

I just bought 1x 50x150cm and 1x 80x150cm (I think those were the measurements) sage marvel mats from Dunelm. I carefully cut them to fit around the rails and tucked them under the trim where possible. I have a 2 seat beach and the drawer/seat can slide over the mat nicely, even though the middle rail is covered. There is a roller on the underside of the draw that runs along the rail, but not in the rail. To get the carpet under, just open the drawer and ask someone to lift the drawer up while you slide the carpet under.

Very happy with this setup and it was only £60 compared to £180 for brandup fitted carpets. The only issue is that it fluffs quite a lot but it is all cotton so at least it is not shedding micro plastic fibres into the environment. Its not like a thick, soft carpet but its nice under foot, warm and should absorb water and be easy to clean and remove.

Carpets require Vacuuming, the floor requires brushing, we have tried both.......the Vinyl Flooring won and just take a small dustpan and brush

That was my approach for the last 3 years but I use the van throughout the winter so I am hoping it helps warm the van up, at least if only for the feeling when my feet touch the floor (which is not nice with thin socks and -10 outside).

Or have a fitted carpet and just use a stiff brush, like they did in the old days.

After a while and a few hooverings, it’ll stop shedding bits.
Although it says can be machine washed, I did mine and they shrank a little. Not that many would notice including my hubby), but just enough for me to know.
I just brush when we’re away and hoover when we get home.

Hut slippers are the answer, I am on carpet wherever I go!
