Does anyone know if it is OK to carry something e.g. small kayak on folded out bed. Obviously it would be necessary to make sure it was secured correctly.

I use that set up to carry all my fishing gear (just like a van) - I make sure to put a tarp around everything to avoid the dirt from the lake getting everywhere.

The pic shows how much gear I can get in there...

i have had many trips to ikea with mine ok if you secure it down

i carried 30x 3m lengths of wooden decking at the weekend (a lot of weight in that!!!), had to turn the passenger seat round to accommodate the length. The thing i was concious of was to not brake too hard. A kayak would be a lot lighter.

If it can take two to sleep or three adults sitting on it , can't see the problem

I have moved furniture in mine and a kayak in my t25. Securing them is the key, under braking items will become much heavier under G force. Just make sure you aren't going to be hit and the things can't move and you should be fine.

Lol I go kayaking the family go shopping

+1 for IKEA trips done that way. The furniture not kayaks mind.

We had 2 x 3m worktops in once from B&Q. Just fitted nice length ways on edge between the front seats.
On another trip an 8 x 4 sheet if 25mm Celotex will fit in diagonally up against the front seats.
