Hi guys,
I bought a 375k kms t4 westy 2.4D about 2 months ago in Germany I have had way too many issues starting from the top:
- Blown head gasket on my way back. Bought 2 new engines both defective and finally a good one with 130k km (just got it running nicely thanks to the finicky injection pump to tweak)
- Hidden rust under the Westfalia (just got sorted too)
- Loose after-market wiring right and left (getting it back to OEM)
And finally, the reason why I'm posting, a short on the control panel circuit. For more context, the leisure battery was completely dead when I bought and drove the van for the first time (actually was a normal car battery) but the control panel was working perfectly and I could use it as long as the van was running (i.e. fridge). I have now put 2x real leisure batteries in the boot but the fuse n1 on the fuse box next to the kitchen keeps on blowing. I have, stupidly, changed it for a 30A which blew a filament in the PCB. I have now resoldered it and checked for continuity and everything checks out.
Arriving to today, I've now removed the kitchen to check for shorts but nothing obvious until I found in the compartment behind the leisure batteries an open connector with several wiring completely unplugged with no obvious other open connector to match it with. Additionally, one of the wiring coming from the fuse n1 goes to that connector.
I'd greatly appreciate if someone has a picture of what is going on there and also if you guys have an idea on why is this happening given I have only changed the battery on that system.
Thank you
