I’m trying to apply on line for a Crit ‘Air sticker. It requires the CO2 in g/km. On the V5C registration document for my 2021 California Ocean TDI there is no figure stated. Has anyone else had this experience? Should I try submitting without a figure or how do I find it for the 150kW power version? Thank you

You're not alone.... had the same, as does most from what I've read on here.
For some bizarre reason they have omitted the data on the V5

Got the info from the sales patter and used that - 211g/km for 150

2.0TDI 150PS 7-speed DSG - 211 - 222 (min/max)
2.0TDI 204PS 7-speed DSG - 213 - 225 (min/max)
2.0TDI 204PS 4MOTION 7-speed DSG 225 - 237 (min/max)

That’s because the DVLA changed the tax class a few years ago so that the T6.1 California Ocean/Coast/Beach Camper are now in a separate Motorcaravan Class that is taxed on weight rather than CO2 production. The Beach Tour is, I believe, taxed on CO2 production and is also subject to the Luxury Car Tax.

Although we have a Crit’Air disc for our van, we changed to a private plate last year. So, for completeness, I’ve applied for anew one with the current reg plate. Application made on 20 Feb., confirmed receipt came 24 Feb, email telling me it’s in production and will be shipped 3 March. Now 18 March, and not received yet. The first one, in 2022, came in 14 days.

Mine took over 4 weeks from acceptance..

They have a Disclaimer on the website extending delivery time.

I also have a 2021 VW California Ocean (150bhp) and I advised 211g/km. I ended up with a Level 2 (Yellow) Crit Air Sticker.

Ours took about a month to come through - I'd actually forgotten I'd ordered it until it came through :D

Very timely !

We are looking at getting our first Crit'Air vignette for Dizzy for expeditions over the rest of the year.

Looking on the French gov application site does a cali go in as passenger car M1 ?

cheers

What does your V5c registration document say?

Yes - it’s shown on your V5C item J.

Tip - you have to send a photo or scan of your V5c. If you take a photo with a phone camera the image size is too large for the site to handle. What I did was take a photo at arms length, and then cropped the photo on my phone. It took a couple of goes to get the size under the limit of 400KB

I have driven around Europe for some years now. I have never intentionally gone over the suggested limit - but may have had this highlighted (smile - shall we say) some years ago… does the Crit Air now allow information (data) to be used to contact a driver if… they should unintentionally have a heavy foot?

They don't need to use the CritAir details - they just access the DVLA database.

I was under the impression they did not have access to the DVLA database… I learn something new every day :)

Obviously it makes sense to plan ahead and get the sticker but I wouldn’t worry too much if you don’t get it in time. As far as I can tell enforcement is pretty much non existent.

Tbh I just did some checking and post Brexit easy access to DVLA has now been removed. There are various articles on how the French are now getting data (they can still make DVLA requests) but none definitive.

Under GDPR you could ask them for any data on you, but I would not hold my breath for an answer even with the 30 day reply limit.

I never speed in France tbh. Never seen the need so good are their motorways and fast in the right places. Waze is good for FR due to them marking speed cameras as police cars.

just be aware of the reduced speeds limits (from a couple of years ago) on normal roads from 90kmh to 80kmh
some old non updated satnavs etc may still think that you can do 90

I always get nervous around any speed camera - and go out of my way to avoid going over any speed limit (almost too nervous). In the earlier days I was trying to get my head driving in France (km/h) only to find I’d just [marginally] got it wrong (flash) . But…
My next question was going to be about **Waze** - I’ve just started using it in the van (having found the satnav was outdated) game changer for me… but haven’t found out how to use Waze at the same time as Radio 4 yet but more importantly - you use it in France - was hoping this would be the case :)

Just use Waze on the Satnav through your phones system, Carplay or equivalent and then select the radio station in the normal car head unit controls (the VW one) and then go back to Carplay. In France remember to set the vehicle and Waze units to KM. I do this in the Chunnel train. Because it's illegal in France to mark speed cameras on a SatNav Waze users mark the locations as police cars.
