Dip Stick level

I got a high oil level warning yesterday while on a long journey. When I got home I checked and the level was way above the maximum.
I have never touched the oil myself, both services to date have been done by VW, really p*#sed off!

Similar happened to us, weird as we had been running the van for eighteen months. We were getting high oil level warning after running various distances, eg 60/80 miles. Booked it in, was told the oil was a little over the maximum! They said they drained some off, been fine since, a complete mystery,

Update. Just as you had suggested WG, the guys at VW suggest that it is over fuelling during a regeneration.
They changed the oil and told me to keep an eye on it.
