Hi - was wondering if i should go for the additional sliding window for greater ventilation in the rear. Can anyone tell me if its worth including - i am a windows open wind in hair music on sort of bloke so i am inclined. Its a £ 160.00 option.

Thanks

We have the extra sliding window with the VW tint (40% I think) great for the kids in the back or ventilation for the dogs

I think its great - ventilation in the rear is pretty limited, so go for this as it allows a cross flow of air when camping. You can also get the SE flyscreens that slot in off of ebay from time to time to ensure it is just air coming in! I looked at potentially having this retrofitted when I was looking for my second beach and you are looking at £500 > £750 (and it will never be quite as good), so £160 when new is a bargain.

In the end I had it as one of two mandatory items when looking at dealer stock. (Along with the 3 zone climate to keep the kids cool in hotter climates).

Its especialy worth having if you intend attaching an awning which will cover the sliding door/ window on one side
Front windows need the ignition on to open & shut which is a pain,

Definitely a good decision, especially as the cost is modest. We didn't get the extra window but it's one of the options that I wish we had gone for. The other is electric folding mirrors (always get in before realising)

Got to go for it! Cheap at this point, super expensive as a retro fit. Same applies to electric folding mirrors (as mentioned above), sensors and electric close on the back and side door (£108 each on a new T6).
Tick the box!

+1 to the extra sliding windows. 30C around Lake Trasimeno this week - extra ventilation is a must. Glad we went for it when we ordered.

Thanks guys... It's now on the list!

Of course 1 less window = one less leak! They have a bit of a reputation for letting in the water. Only got the one in mine which I don't use but have not been outside the UK so may be useful in Southern Europe

If you have an awning, the extra sliding window allows easy ventilation in rain without issue (open the awning a couple cm's).

Also I found out that the original VW fly screens (part nr 7H7068528A) , which cannot be ordered for a beach (at least not a T5), work on the sliding window in the sliding door (if you ordered that option). They also work on the regular sliding window, but because the window next to it is a bit larger than on a standard California, it's not big enough to cover the non-sliding part of the window when the window is closed. I still bought it though, it seems to stay in place regardless of the non-perfect fitting.

I ordered the extra window, for my T6 Beach..... Glad I did, as almost didn't. I'm a bit OCD, so wanted both sides to look the same..... Plus, better looking at it, than for it, was my logic! Also expensive and inconvenient to retro-fit.

We use it, normally when brewing a cuppa on the table.... It allows steam to vacate easily. Also, as I sleep on this side of the bed, when sleeping downstairs, I like some ventilation on my-side, whereas the Mrs, prefers her side sealed-off!!

Hmm yeah can confirm fits in mine and no real gap but can't be closed fully with them in. Assumed that was normal.

Surely that's a picture of the standard opening window. Good choice of coffee pot by the way!

Wait a minute.. I thought this was never meant to be left in place when closing the window. You slide the flyscreen the other way before closing the window... ?! Am I wrong?
The thing is, after sliding the flyscreen away (so it sits in front of the non-sliding window part) the clips on the edges fix it there, at least for the window in the sliding door. Not for the other window...
If you want I can take a picture to clarify what I mean.

Yeah I never tried them before. I don't think they will move from there unless I do it from outside once moved I doubt they would stay there with the window fully closed.

Windows seem identical other than mirrored to me

The non sliding part of the window, right side on your picture, is slightly smaller (5cm?) on the sliding door side than on the non-sliding door side

Yes you are right. Sliding door net holds perfectly with window closed other side has a gap loose at one end

You're correct! I got myself confused, as to which side was the "optional extra." Both should be standard fitment IMO..... Re-thinking about it now, we don't use the one in the sliding door very often..... But am still happier to be looking at it, rather than looking for it.

I guess I had a rather odd primary reason for getting the extra window. I wanted to reduce the opportunity of argument between the two boys over who would be sitting next to the window.

Through breeze was a secondary reason,

I skipped it because I heard they were prone to leak, thinking one leaking window is better than two. Always the pessimist me!

I didn't order the extra window and for the minimal cost for it, one of the only things I regret not adding.
