Hi has anybody been to france/italy in november ,are there many camp sites open?

Not many are open but have a look here

Or ACSI website has a option to filter by open dates.

There are sites open whole year round if you look for them , but you can just use the free aires in France (lots of them) .
That time a year you will always find a place to spent the night.

Hello when travelling through France Oct - Nov we use an app called Camping Car Park, You join and get a card for 10 to 15E and top up on site when required. The sites are basic have a barrier/water/powerpoints/waste disposal cost us about E9.50 a night. as regards Italy we used to travel in Italy spring and autumn. Campsites are quite small if you fid one and usually closed after Sept. But there are an abundance of free aires some with on water/waste disposal some with power points. They are usually on the edge to towns or villages. There is another app called Park4night.com

The 'Search for Sites' website / app will give you a good idea where usable sites are during the winter months. Open months are listed with most entries.
The app when used with live data will also provide navigation so I've found it a very useful item whilst on holiday this summer and autumn.
Whilst on the subject of this app I would urge anyone using the app and a site listed thereon to provide a review keeping the data as up to date as possible.

City hopping Volterra (known from teenager movies) is also a lovely situated city on your way/around Siena/Firenze.
