The amber frost light comes on when the fridge button is pressed, I then hear a click, the light goes out and the fridge stays off. Has anyone had this problem? I have phoned VW commercials and my local dealer didn't have a clue. Am a bit frustrated as you spend a lot of money buying a vehicle and when something goes wrong concerning the camping elements they have no idea. Any help would be gratefully received as we are going camping soon and it would be good to have a working fridge.
Thanks, Lee

How can they 'not have a clue'?! Some of these dealers....... :headbang OK, they are commercial dealers set up for dealing with builder's vans not camper convertors but blame VW for that for the ridiculous way they sell/'look after' (?!) these things. Have they even stuck a multimeter on the leisure battery for starters to check sufficient voltage? This is the issue with so many modern mechanics who are laptop rather than brain trained.*

As Matt says, start with the engine running and see then. Could be insufficient voltage from the leisure battery so start with this as the simplest thing first.

*EDIT - had presumed from your question (and having not noted yours is a 2008) that you had contacted VW as this was a potential still in warranty issue.

Same advice stands re' voltage etc but if you cannot sort it yourself stay well away from VW main dealers and find a reliable indie VW specialist garage for the mechanical side and a mobile auto-electrician or local converter/specialist for the 'caravan' side.

I'd try the control panel reset first it seems to fix a myriad of issues with fridges and heating.

..message ends..

If they are the original batteries they are likely to be past their best.

Same problem here , had you an

Fridge issue it's not working

The control panel fridge light is flashing manual says it's faulty any ideas ? Tried the reset that didn't work

Thinking it's the fuse but again manual says fuses are under drivers seat - they're not there under passengers and seem not to carry spare 10am

Thoughts wellcome

Have you checked the Control Panel for any Diagnostic Codes?

Don't mean to sound dim but how do you find diagnostic codes - the control panel simply has the fridge symbol flashing - ?

Just found this in a thread from 2011 which might help posted by John.

How easy was that to fault find I agree most dealers deal with vans and builders and don't have a clue
then it comes to fault finding previous post about fridge fault codes how difficult is that , it sounds as if a sensor has gone short circuit

This forum has so many helpful members if you call VW CS are you really happy with there replies ?

I have posted many questions and 24/7 someone gives good helpful advice and in many cases when you visit your dealer you say its XYZ

But when I called the dealer this is how they work
Hello dealer I have a broken wardrobe door its fallen to bits and tape fallen off and its 2 months old

Dealer , Bring it in sir cant see you till end of next week and we will look and then order parts

You make journey to dealer , dealer looks and says ah need to order parts so can you bring it back end of next week to have it replaced you will need to leave it for a day
2 weeks to get anything done and many miles at your expense

This is how it should works from a good dealer

Post question on forum " Anyone no the part number of the rear roller shutter door
45mins later a member posts a picture showing all part numbers
Call dealer speak to service manager first name terms
Hey *** my wardrobe door has fallen to bits and the part number is XYX
OK ill order it be here tommow, pop by tomorrow afternoon and we will swap it
Job done but don't forget the doughnuts these guys have a sweet tooth but don't forget Christmas a case of beer for the lads

So does anyone know how to decider this diagnostic code

3001 3001-J698-cooler input error "Active"

Thanks

Decode I meant obviously

3001 3001-J698-cooler input error "Active"

Yeah I thought that but tried fuse and its good ?

cool thanks, how do you go about investigating that - can't find a panel that will directly access the fridge - assume its wiring is underneath?

On first inspection all connections under the fridge seem good - other thoughts ?
