I don't think the GC600 i'm taking delivery of has a spair wheel, well i looked under the back where it would be on my T6 and there is just a big empty space and no wheel!

What options do i have to fit one? There must be some sort of underslung option, or i see a fair few OFF grid style vans with rear door frame work and spair wheel etc? Are the rear door hinges strong enough to actually hang a big heavy wheel and tyre on? Does it make the door hard to open?

Anyone with experience of these door mounts etc?

Thanks!

Not fitted as standard, but can be fitted if you buy and fit the securing wire mechanism. We have all terrain tyres fitted to after market 17" wheels, but these are to big to fit underneath, so last week had a wheel carrier fitted to the rear door. There are a number of types available but the Wheeliams one we have does not require and mods to the hinges which some do. There is also a fixing through structural part of the door skin. No issue with opening door.

ok, thanks for the info? Is there really not enough space to fit chunky tyre under the back floor? My vans on a 245/70/17 tyre.

That feels like a fair old weight to hand off the rear door!

No worse than fitting a bike rack and 2 adult bikes on the rh door. It's often done on converted vans so I'm hoping it's not an issue!
