Fitting OEM Underslung Spare Wheel GC680

UPDATE TO MAN PARTS - See below:

I have found the parts via MAN dealership and the difference in price

VW 7C0803660BF SPARE WHEEL BRACKET AND CABLE £166.80 (MAN 65424030048 £123.60)

UPDATE This MAN part number is NOT correct! There are 2 x part numbers that cross reference with the VW Part number, so it must be the "other one". They do not like giving part numbers out! The difference is the bracket that goes through the hole in the wheel centre is too big. I ended up going back to TPS and getting the VW part. Other parts fit fine....

VW 7C0805350F REBOUND STRAP £68.88 (MAN 65424400006 £48.60)

VW 7 X N0195308 M8X25 FLANGED HEX BOLTS (MAN 65900500002 £16.04)

VW 1 X N10714101 M10 X 25 FLANGED HEX BOLT (MAN 65904050136 £1.92)
I'm not surprised that you ended up with a wrong bracket & cable, there are well over a dozen different ones depending on vehicle age and specification.

I’m contemplating adding a spare wheel to my GC680. Not wishing to go for the off road look I’m planning to do more or less OEM.

Question 1, Does anyone know if this will be a problem as my van has the factory fitted VW tow bar with the 4 bolt towball.

Question 2, I have also found items described as “Spare Wheel Cover” 7C0825213A (Left) 7C0825214A (Right). Does anyone know if this is required?
The previous post on here which contained a list of parts fitted by the VW dealer never mentioned these items. Anyone with an underslung spare wheel fitted could you have a look to see if there are any plastic cover parts beneath or around the spare wheel? Thanks!

For the spare wheel, to keep the same rolling dimension as the 235/60R17 alloys, tyre size should be 205/75R16 on the 2N0601027L/J wheel. I have just ordered a delivery miles new for £59.95 from e-bay. I believe wheel 2N0601027L is rated 1000kg, 2N0601027J is rated 1200Kg. There are still 2 more available on e-bay as I type.

I have obtained the list below from a previous post, and 0% discount price from TPS:

7C0803660BF SPARE WHEEL BRACKET AND CABLE £166.80

7C0012163B WHEEL WRENCH BAR EXTENSION (TO RELEASE SPARE WHEEL) £12.50

7C0012218 WHEEL WRENCH £26.20

2N0601027L SPARE STEEL WHEEL £140 (£59.95 EBAY) (Search: "Vw Crafter/MAN TGE 16” Steel Wheel Silver 5x120 2N0601027J *Delivery Miles*")

7C0805350F REBOUND STRAP £68.88

7 X N0195308 M8X25 FLANGED HEX BOLTS (I THINK MIGHT BE INCLUDED WITH SPARE WHEEL BRACKET AND CABLE, SO PERHAPS NOT REQUIRED AS A SEPERATE ITEM)

1 X N10714101 M10 X 25 FLANGED HEX BOLT

205/75R16 C TYPE VAN LOAD TYRE

2N0011031E JACK - SEARCH EBAY "Crafter-Sprinter Bottle Jack VW Crafter SC SZ SX Bottle Jack 3500KG Genuine Red" NEW £79.90 (Still available)
A quick question. I bought the same part 7C0803660BF Bracket but I haven't got the 7C0012163B Wheel wrench bar extension yet. My Bracket has a 1/2" square socket end BUT the extension bars online all show a threaded end. The manual shows it as square like mine. Any advice.

I think mine is a HEX shaped winding tool, I will have to check to be sure

Hi Trimmy69.
I am in the same situation.
There are two different parts for this component: one has a hexagonal male end on one side and a five-faced female end on the other side, and the other has a hexagonal male end on one side and a 1/2" square pipe on the other end. I need the second one (the square end one).

I'm not sure which part number corresponds to the square end (7C0012163A or 7C0012163B). Did you manage to get the part?

If you get stuck a standard socket set extension bar works if used the wrong way round, then use a spanner or grips on the square end of the extension to turn it.

I don't like to say this but you are all aware that the correct tool(s) should be in the storage box under the front of the left front foot floor along with a jack etc.

Not if the GC wasn't ordered with a spare wheel.

Sorry, I didn't mean that the spare wheel access tool was always in the tool tray. You would be amazed how many owners of Crafters & TGEs don't know where any of the tools are!!

all sorted, bought a second hand bottle jack online and it came with all the bits
I bought a second-hand jack and bits that looked brand new for just €50 from a scrapyard, but unfortunately, they misplaced that part and was missing.

I only got the empty tray. Thanks.

Do you want a picture and list of what is in my 2023 TGE tool chamber?
Hi Rod
Thanks, I have all done, spare wheel already under the van. Great job.
I bought a second-hand jack and bits on Ebay from scrapyard for my empty tray, but unfortunately, they misplaced that part with the 1/2 ' tube connection.
I used a standard socket set extension as suggested by Andyinluton until finding a replacement for the missing part somewhere.

For future references, the 1/2 inch square extension part is: V7C0012163B. I got one from VW garage.

Thanks @GS O'brino FYI you can remove the first character 'V' as that is not part of the actual part number.

The tools in the wheel-changing kit are made of very poor-quality material. If you include a spare wheel, be sure to also get a wheel wrench. I tried loosening one of the screws to add a safety screw, and the tool broke without me applying much force.
