Had a message pop up on the dash saying ‘only leave vehicle in P please visit workshop’. Ran a diagnosis with my Carista dongle which showed fault ‘267528 - selector leaver park position lock switch’

All booked in for repair early January. Craig the master technician at Citygate has said they may have to replace the selector mechanism.

Anybody else had this one?

New one on me. Not seen it mentioned on this Forum before. Possibly on the T6 Forum.

I know that your van is about the same age as mine (Oct 2020), and bizarrely I also had this message a few days ago. I've done some research, and it looks like it could be a faulty micro switch that detects when the box is in park. It does not seem to be a critical fault, and I'm hoping this is the case, as I'm down in the south of Spain at present, not returning home until after Easter!! Would prefer not to have to go to a dealer down here, but if anyone knows differently, and that I should get it looked at, would very much appreciate some advice!

Thanks. Yes, I reckon it’s just a micro switch. Hopefully not critical as they can’t look at it until 4th January.

This is from the T6 Forum in September 2023 :-

This fault is fairly new, with regards to seeing it in workshops.
I'd suspect that there will be a repair kit available at some point, but currently, the only way to rectify the fault is to replace the shifter 'tower' inside the vehicle.

Yes had this fault. Faulty microswitch in the gear selector. Had the whole selector assembly replaced under warranty

Same happened to me; selector assembly replaced under warranty by South Hereford VW last week.

Seems like it’s becoming a common fault. Did they do the job in 1 day?
Mad that the whole assembly gets replaced for the sake of a microswitch!

They didn‘t have the parts in stock, had to order and book the van in. Took a full day but part of that will have been the workshop fitting new rear disks and pads

Thanks @Cwcltd
Mines booked in with a loan vehicle so I’m probably looking at 2 days (unless they get the parts in up front).

Mine is not the best, you can move it 1/2mm down and it says put the vehicle in park, this is when I have the door open. So I think I’ll ask Swansway to check it out Monday when it’s in for its inspection service. Thanks for the reminder :thumb

I had mine done when in for other work. All done in one day and problem has not returned.
Crazy to swap out the whole thing but replace don't fix is how most things are done now I guess.

Same issue here. Started May 23- ( 2021 Cali- 15000 miles) had the issue dealt with which required replacement of switch and some linkages. Overnight job at the dealer.
Apparently something which affects a number of different VW dsg vehicles.

I knew this looked familiar; same message (but in Dutch)

So, I also had it once and it just stopped on its own when I drove away and never came back (August 2022, bus was 4 months old at the time; now: 20 months old and 36000 km). It is certainly more common than some people think and has been for quite some time. Even last week I met someone with a Cali who had the part in question replaced. You read about it rather regularly when you broaden your reading horizon and do some research on the internet.

We see this message from time to time on our 2015 Golf with DSG. I'm told it's an intermittently faulty microswitch and awkward to fix. In this case, outside warranty, awkward=expensive. They tell me the system pops up this msg when it cannot determine the position of the DSG lever. It disappears by itself, sometimes while we're still driving, and sometimes not until after a restart.
I found a supposedly DIY workaround solution, but the parts were US-based. It basically just bypasses the offending switch.

Just get this message during a stop for the night... To wake up everybody during the night, it's good.

Agree - this is the most annoying symptom of this fault. There is absolutely no loss of functionality to the van at all, but beeps that occur randomly when parked up (including over night) certainly affect my functionality!! It is an easy fix though, but can’t give guidelines as to cost, as mine was still under warrantee.

Does this alert could be disabled with the Carista? Is there any risk to do it?
On yours, they changed everything or just the failing part?

They did not change the whole gear selector - I was told it was ‘an electronics card’ underneath, but I have no more details as it was a warrantee repair, so no paperwork. Quick repair, but they had to order the part, so took an extra day. Did not investigate a possible Carista muting.

I hope they can order just the part. What i see from EKTA, there is not eletronic card just the selector...
