Looking for good independent in Hampshire to undertake a cambelt and water pump change and DSG service. Been quoted £1173 by Breeze, which I think is a little pricey and circa nearly 100% uplift from 4 years ago (SMG) and 50% on the DSG.

Wish I could raise my chargable rate by a similar vain. However I do appreciate that costs have risen

I recently had some suspension work done by Brookspeed in Eastleigh (their Transporter location) and was impressed by knowledge and attitude.

Planning to use them for service and cambelt later this year so be interested in what they quote.

Breeze are £888 for cambelt and water pump (paid £454 in 2019) so it will be interesting to see.

Thanks. Have called them and will let you know the price when it arrives.

Called but no response. Just fired off a contact me...

SMG in Cowfold quoted me £650 plus vat (£780) for the cambelt and water pump on Monday, new pricing across the Transporter range apparently.

Hope you get yourself a good independent - my cambelt/waterpump (plus bits) was £500 all-in using genuine parts last November. VW pricing seems crazy atm.

Same as Breeze Totton quoted me a couple of weeks ago

SMG did it last time with numerous other works which they didn't do, damaged, or didn't fit correctly. I was close to having the cambelt and water pump redone.

Quoted the cambelt and waterpump exclusive of VAT at £740 and the DSG service inclusive of VAT

Bognor motors have a good reputation don't they? not a million miles away. I've not used them myself despite being nearby as I'm still in warranty / service plan at the moment.

The VW Van Centre in Aldershot/Farnborough has just done a really good job on my T6 Ocean. Would use again, if that helps.

Still no response from Brookspeed and have sort of given up with them

I had a quote from Bognor Motors today, £750 inc vat for the cambelt and water pump.

Can recommend Bognor Motors, excellent bunch to deal with!

Carpark + Garage is always full of T5 & T6’s which is always a good sign.

(Hedge End & Chandlers ford)

We used these Guys for our Cambelt and water pump on our T5 Cali a few years ago.
I believe they were originally the Service Managers for the local Audi garage and then started
this business so know the VW group products very well.

Our T6 is due a Cambelt in May so will be asking them for a price and compare against Breeze.

Well it gets better. Brookspeed are more expensive and I cant really understand their pricing. So they may be cheaper on the Cambelt / waterpump as the DSG service is circa £400.

VW have a fixed price cambelt change at £382+VAT however Breeze are no longer participating VW dealers.

Gave up on Lookers

Finally got around to this and booked in with Dubtend. Has great reviews so worth a try and I'm going to be lazy and have Grant swap out the bushes front and rear (Powerflex ones supplied by me).

£468 + VAT for the VW Cambelt / waterpump
£385 + VAT for the bushes to the front and rear arms (and rear brake bleed due to arm removal)

Would you recommend them?

Yes. However if you're looking for a nice shiny showroom you will be disappointed. Just collected my Cali and Grant went through everything. Belt, water pump, tensioners, bushes, air filter, rear brake lines etc.

Also interesting to note that he checked the air filter, it was very dirty (so replaced it ). Also the rear brake lines on the rear wishbones were corroded at the connectors (8yrs old) and again replaced. Both decisions in my mind were 100% correct. I swapped the air filter out at 40k / 4years and it was bad so it should be done every service.

Cambelt / tensioner / waterpump were like new, so 4yrs (33k miles) is a bit OTT. Slight leak on the water pump (on the sealing flange (SMG did it 4yrs ago))

Oddly the bill didn't come to the cost quoted ....all in £864... so £24 cheaper than Breeze's price just for the cambelt and waterpump change.

Existing bushes worn at the rear outer and front rears. Looked very much a bun fight to remove from the arms. So at 66k / 8yrs they needed replacing.

Feels a lot less thrashy over the bumps but early days and tracking booked for Friday (on K14 Komfort coilovers)
