Is the 4motion version louder than the 2 wheel drive?

As such, no, in our opinion. Also not to be expected: motor, sound insulation, etc is the same as a 'regular' Cali. The drive train to the back and the extra differential are not something you hear.
Having said that, many drive their 4Motion with M+S or All Terrain tyres. And those, with their more 'open' profiles, are definitely louder than 'regular' tyres.

Life is quieter as you are further off road!! :smile

The sound of boulders crashing against the underside can be a bit disconcerting but otherwise no problem

We did some slightly accidental full on off-roading in Spain; bouncing off the side bars, the only thing we saw was one proper 4x4; scary but it handled it really well!

Apologies for the balding old git but the spot was worth it.

Hmm, I always find M+S tyres quieter than standard summer tyres as they are made of a softer compound - more silicon, less rubber. All Terrains are noisier than standard road summer tyres - you can always hear a Defender with them on a long way away!

So in relation to transmission differences - no difference.

Tyres, yes they do.

I find M n' S excellent for underwear so why would the tyres be different?
