Returned yesterday from an 11 day trip, including the NC500, anti-clockwise, Did it clockwise in October. Not busy, nice and sunny, cold winds stunning scenery. Second only to Norway for a driving adventure. Campsites all the way. Should wild camp really, but 'her indoors', needs the facilities'.

Pics in no real order. The Viaduct is the Glen Fiddan viaduct, as filmed in Harry Potter, The craggy pass, is the Applecross pass, The camp with awning out is Sango Sands, Durness. Included a drive round the Isle of Skye. Was tempted to do the Outer Hebrides, but it was getting a bit complicated.

On the way up (we live on the south coast), English campsite showers closed, Scottish open. The Scots seemed less paranoid about Covid than some of the English site staff. A bit mask obsessive.

You should try the wild Atlantic way in Ireland that will knock the nc500 down a place
Its like the nc500 on steroids and very quiet. Can be very windy though, and campsites are few and far between (loads of stealth camping spots).

Looks like you’ve had great weather, and it’s very stunning.
Great pics :thumb

Great pictures,
my favourite one is the viaduct.
Not sure about my second favourite, they're all good. :thumb

Looks like a great trip and one we will be doing ourselves no doubt - in the fullness of time. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing photos, particularly the viaduct. Is it the one from Harry Potter?

Yes.

" stealth camping" l like it. Much better description than wild camping.

The attraction of "stealth camping" notwithstanding, the best campsite I've ever found in Europe is the Clifden Eco Site 25 miles due west of Galway City on the coast and roughly the half way point on this WAW.

The mention of the Wild Atlantic Way in the post above reminded me of it.

How busy were the roads @Anthony1 ? I noticed a few great whites in one of your pictures.

Started whole thread on stealth camping spots disappearing a while back.
Wild camping is definitely not having the comforts of a camper:thumb

Most great whites were in the campsites. If we encountered one, they often pulled over to let us pass. Overall, very quite, although most sites were full.

My neighbour’s daughter has just done the NC500 in a hired California. She’s back tomorrow and has had a great time. Have asked for her itinerary and tips on campsites good/bad.

Lots of Californias and converted T5s. Lots of waving and flashing of headlights.
