There are a number of threads on these bits of plastic and having read them all I opted for the better safe than sorry route and got some as a fair bit of wild camping is anticipated. Anyway I am slightly obsessive with storage and I needed something to put in the gap between the fridge and the slide out drawer. Opted for the Millenco Triple which have now arrived. They come in a good sturdy canvas bag. Best bit is they are black with yellow on so will match the colour scheme we have going. Yes! Very sad but it keeps me amused.

Mmmmm. Wild camping, quick getaway, wheel ramps:oops:

If anyone wants a pair I have a pair unused in my "Albert: bits bought, never needed" cupboard.

At a pinch I make do with using the manual as a levelling ramp. It's big enough, strong enough and about the best thing that it's good for :(

ps: No Tech. Authors were hurt in the making of this post.

They were a must in my T25 to keep the gas fridge working, any deviation from flat and it wouldnt get cold.
You could always go for the gas suspension method of getting the van level ;D

I think for the more rugged campsites (which we love) we've always found them useful, most of the more up market sites are generally flat to start with.

Haven't got any, never needed any. Use that space for something you will use.
Yep have read the for and against arguments and like most things there are two camps, at least I promise to post again if I haven't used them and not to post if I do. I'll give it a year. I also promise to not go looking for an excuse to use them.

And it's a very nice bag.

The "fridge working" bit was what persuaded me to buy them, my old motorhome would not work at all unless it was on the level. Well, it was on a peugeot base ....

To cut down on weight I promise to use red wine in a glass as the level. Like the one next to me.

I have a brand new set of Thule ramps - which can't be used for the simple reason that the wheels on the T6 (204 DSG 4Motion) are too wide... just checked on Amazon for the Millenco Triple and it looks the same size as the Thule I have.
Depending on which vehicle you've ordered Mike, yours might not get used either...

I've got a set that have only been used on campsites where I've been allowed to pitch up with the tents, often in the spot with best views, because I didn't need a power hook-up.

Have used narrower ramps on another vehicle with no problems, as long as the difference in widths is not that great. :thumb

Thanks WG - I was being cautious as the leaflet that came with them says only use ones wider than the wheels. I'll need to check more closely as the wheels do seem much wider than the ramps just at a quick glance... Hence popped them in the long term garage storage for now...

Thanks but did check before I got them. Getting the same vehicle 204 DSG 4 Motion. Checked before hand and it should be shod as standard with Tyres 235/55 R17 103H optimised rolling resistance. So 23.5cm wide and Millenco Triples are 24cm. Thules are narrower I believe at 202mm.

I'm thinking of getting some ramps as we want to stay on a friend's sloping driveway - but I'm a bit scared about going 'over the top' (or off the side) - any suggestions to set my mind at ease?

oops I've just bought the same set - same vehicle 2014 4 Motion 17 /235 wheels - not checked yet - are these definitely not suitable?

Well I had a reply on the forum that it might be ok - bit when I hold the ramps near the wheels at home I think, NOPE NOPE and NOPE again. They look so terribly narrow against the wider wheels. Sorry.

I'm no expert on tyres but 4 Motion comes with Tyres 235/55 R17 103H as standard. I believe this means 235mm tyre width and ramps I have sat in my bedroom are Milenco Triple and are 240mm wide.
They are pretty big and if they need to be any bigger I shan't be carrying them anyway.

How wide are your ramps Alison?

Edit: just re read the post and suspect you are talking about the Thule and not Milenco ones.

Mike, that was mean ;-), disturbing my cuppa and ice cream after dog training... well just popped into garage with tape measure and my ramps, bought online as suitable for all campers / caravans, are only 180/190 cms...

Sorry, mine were supporting precarious stack of Cali stuff in bedroom and I have somehow to get it all re balanced after removing the ramps. They were levelling the stack of stuff so I should have known they would have no trouble with a Cali
Cuppa and ice cream, very nice Sorry!

melted ice cream also tastes good and still holds the dogs attention (after 2 hours of agility they should be poopled... grrr)

I have and use the Thule. Fit beside the SE draw. I also have a 4Motion fitted with 235 x 17 tyres. Tyres tread footprint fits perfectly on the ramps, no overhang of the tread area. Works for me. I mean you don't place the ramps 6' away and try to drive up them. As long as the ramps are weight rated and fit the tread area.

We have the narrows ones and have never had a problem, yes they are narrower than the tyre but this is fine for a night or two. The next size up are just stupid size to keep in the van on the very rare off chance you need them. I would say we use ours less than 1% of the time, certainly not an essential accessory.
