1. Unlock the van, using the remote ( no problem ), drive off and if the manual page 65 is correct, the doors should "self lock" at speed above 9mph. This is not happening, should it ? The doors will lock if I press the central locking switch in the drivers door.

2. When I stop the van and switch off the ignition, I get a message on the display in the instrument cluster advising me about Safelock, and to refer to manual. Is this just a reminder or is there something I am not doing ?
any thoughts or advice, thanks.

I also press the ‘lock’ button on drivers door. No autolock at any speed...

1. It needs programming to get the autolock/unlock
2. Safelock means Deadlock in english

Thanks Alison, that's what I'm doing at the moment, but at the current price of an Ocean this should come as standard. On the dark, somebody jumps in the sliding door and holds a blade to your throat, or even worse opens the door and does a runner with your Hermes bag, (seen to many movies).

Thanks Loz, will see our dealer, regarding the programming. Regarding the dead lock/safe lock could not decide if it was advice or if I needed to do something.
regards.

Dealer may not re-programme but you can purchase a Carista OBD module that will or find an Independent VW specialist that will.

Thanks for that WelshGas, will have a look.

Carista with 30day free trial will get all the good mods done for less than the cost of the trip to the dealer. As @WelshGas says, the dealer will say “computer say’s no!”
if your ever up my way in Gloucestershire, feel free to drop by and I’ll do it for you.

Thanks Loz, for the info, re the free trial, and the very kind offer of carrying out the mods. At the moment I will use the drivers door CL SWITCH.
regards.

Don't forget OBDeleven as a more flexible alternative to Carista.
My VW dealer said they couldn't engage the anti-hijack (did not say why). I Programmed with OBDeleven - a two minute job.

my vote and recommendation is to buy a vcds unit. It does far more than the genuine vw diagnostic/adjust tool with loads of info available online.

@Alan Andrews do you have any links to recommended VCDS units?
I bought mine from here.
Different licences options available. Because I have several VW/Audi vehicles in household, I went for unlimited use option. Also works with SEAT, SKODA, Lamborgini if you have these.
License is perpetual and I receive regular updates from online connection.
Also has good value is sold on at a later date.

You might also want tro check out the manufacturers website.
The vcds software is downloaded on to a laptop which you use with the vcds plug in unit.
