If you are worried about rear end sag under load there is always this option.
Airlift assisters. Cost new is around £100. I fitted them on a previous Cali and they really helped.



This is not full air suspension with up/down facility but stiffens up the rear springs. I fiited an inline valve so that the pressure could be varied dependent on load.

Even the T6 Sportline is not sold with lowering springs. Not sure why but I did read something about tyre wear.

It consequently looks a bit weird!

As I understand it the springs are a dealer-fitted option for the Sportline van too. I've seen brand new and registered T6 Sportline vans for sale in the past couple of weeks with the lowering springs fitted.

I spoke to various dealers before getting the VW-approved springs (rated 1710kg front, 1720kg rear) fitted and the only restriction has consistently been that they are not suitable if it's a 4motion. That in itself seems inconsistent with VW Parts UK online that lists the same spring set that I have as suitable for 4motion, though I must say I didn't query their reasoning any further as we didn't want a 4motion Cali.

Initial thoughts for us are that it really cuts down the side-to-side wallowing that we personally found quite a downside (our van is used daily on some abysmally maintained rural roads!).

As others have said though it's a very personal choice. Fully respect that thousands of people are perfectly happy with the standard setup.

It's all about compromise. And cost! Some stuff is extremely expensive and possibly not the best value. £400(ish) for springs and fitting against £1800 for Billies or £2500 plus for bagging it. mmm. Like I said earlier, you make your choice and pay for it.

As a percentage of a new T6 cost an air system would add 6 or 7%. Spring kit 3% or less.
The old game of making things look cheaper but does put costs into perspective.

That's one off the reasons i need to do this plus better handling been quoted £460 by Vw smg Croydon seems fair price

Just to mention that others have recommended having all-round laser wheel alignment done after lowering to help protect against tyre wear issues, which the dealer may well not have included in his price unless it was requested. Mine was done and a few slight adjustments were needed front and rear to get everything in tolerence. The setup process for the Hunter laser rig also included a measurement of actual ride height.

Alignement always needs to be done afther changing parts from suspention , afther a major accident involving working on axels ,....even driving in a large hole in the road can mess up the alignement of your verhicle.
Changing suspention parts can be done by anyone , aligning axels back to normal is work for qualified people.
If not it is asking for troubles! all saying on here they got strange tyrewear ....have they ever had a alignement done?

Would you happen to know what the relevant roof heights are with the Car park setting?

I have 1,915mm at the back of the awning on mine which is a T5 2WD with winter tyres.
A good guide would be that a 2.0m car park should be fine but 1.9m would be slightly nerve-racking.

We're literally in the middle of doing a T6 4Motion at the moment. I'll take the measurement once we're finished and post them later.

Thing of lowering my ocean 204 dsg any thoughts or advice much appreciated

Just last month we had the VW lowering springs fitted to our 2013 T5 180, to reduce the slightly wallowy feel (and the accompanying travel sickness), improve handling etc.

Desired outcomes achieved, the ride is better - it's not too firm, the van feels more planted when cornering, wallowing has gone. Certainly doesn't feel like there's any damper/spring mismatch.

£455.00 well spent, assuming you don't think it should've been like it in the 1st place...

Also - forgot to add this morning - if you do decide to go ahead, you need to tell your insurance company. LV= charged an extra £10.00 on the annual premium, didn't make any difference that it's a VW kit, just that I'd made a suspension modification.
