Mid life crisis Cali Swamper!

It looks like the quietist Falkens are 69db vs the KO2's at 74db. I’ve no idea what difference that makes in the real world though.

Taking of all this. Did any of you spec/or have the acoustic pack?

Some posters here swear by it. The supplying dealer said it negligible difference.

Intrigued if that and heated screen are worthwhile. (The two come as a package it seems).

Some more guff if you’re not bored already.

“The 3dB 'trading effect' means for every 3 dB the sound level increases the impact on hearing health which is doubled. For example, 63 dB(A) is twice as noisy as 60 dB(A). The relevance of this is apparent when considering exposure to hazardous level of noise.”

So in summary the Falkens are probably very noticeably quieter than the BFG’s.

A factor that I don’t see discussed vs Road noise re AT tyres is wet weather stopping. The KO2’s are market leaders in this metric which for typical UK use is an important consideration.

Once I've escaped this infernal cycle of looking at wheel and tyre combos and actually pick one, how do people go about ordering them and getting them fitted? I know there are companies like Elite who will ship 4 balanced wheels to your door ready for fitting, are people using those types of companies mainly or are you buying everything seperately (alloys, tyres, valves etc) and hiring a local company to fit them for you?

I can bore you with some more reading I was doing last night. Admittedly comparing Trail Terrain vs Wildpeak Trail

Looks like the Falkens will be my next tyres when the KO2’s eventually wear out then!

I’m planning a trip to the Balkans next year when the BFG AT’s will come into their own.

I’m still keen on the Falken Wildpeaks.

Anyone here run a set?

I run them and absolutely love them. I had BFG’s and also tried Pirelli All Terrain Plus. Switched to the Falkens and won’t ever go back. Super quiet and has done very well in mud, snow, ice, wet grass and river crossings. Very much recommended!

I’m completely cost driven. But if there’s not much in it, I go to a specialist. That said, if they’re a direct fit and don’t need spacers/adaptors/spigot rings just go for whoever supplies at the best price.

Guys we need to up our game. Can't let these EU types have all the testosterone-infused fun.

Yes, but do they know a blade grinder from a flat burr?

Bet they don’t groom their beards either. Savages.

They are 235/55R18 on Wolfrace Explore matt black. Using a Garmin Sat Nav it looks like 1-2 mph difference, so nothing too noticeable. I also put the same wheel and tyre combo in the spare wheel cradle under the van. Standard suspension.

Nothing that I’ve noticed, however a few other factors; the first set of Wolfrace were causing rubbing of the (sliding door) table against the black wheel arches (fitted by VWT5-T6), it seems the offset (?) was incorrect, so Wolfrace made some changes and replaced the wheels, all good now. Second slight issue is the spare wheel; it’s difficult to get it out of the cradle due to the towbar, and (at some 30kg) it needs some muscle to get it back in and secured. No regrets though, love the wheels and tyres.

Now that silly bronze business is out of my system, what do you guys think of these? Probably put a set of Falken Wildpeak 235/65R17 on them.

I’m not too sure about these.
The metal bolts make the wheel seem smaller in MHO.
I like manholes further out towards the edges to make the wheel seem larger.
But only IMHO, it’s wots you is liking init.
As the kids say

I know what you mean. They’re on a short(long)list along with these.
