New infotainment system needed

You also need the Kenwood interface lead (£100 approx) for the steering wheel controls to work properly - do not buy a non Kenwood lead otherwise you will lose some functionality and will need to splice some wires!

Fairly easy DIY fit, will take about an hour or so. Need to run a new microphone wire behind the windscreen pillar (comes supplied with the unit, and disconnect VW Bluetooth module - sits under the glovebox).
Thank you @Ch1pbutty. I’ll probably get the local guys to fit it so I don’t mess it up. I’ll certainly mention these points though.

I assume that your current head unit has packed up, therefore replacement is necessary.
Under £500 for the Kenwood is a much better price than I paid. Absolut could not price match 'black friday' deals or Amazon prices by a substantial margin. However, I went with Absolut as I was reluctantly self installing and they were a necessary back up to resolve issues. They were very helpful in regard set up and problem solving.
I sold my working RNS 510 for just over £250 on eBay. Huge interest and competitive bidding, particularly from dealers. It was because the unit was DABS.
Essentially plug and play to install the unit; and took me nearly three weeks to complete and solved problems.
2K to replace your head unit is very salty.....

The screen has failed on mine. I know that I could replace it, but I’d rather replace the unit and have a bigger screen and wireless connectivity to CarPlay. I’d originally specced my van with the DynAudio speakers and have always been frustrated by the lack of ability to fine tune the sound too.

1 vote for the alpine system designed for the Cali. Much bigger screen angled back so more visible. Great HD display and sound quality. Is double din but gives you a little storage slot underneath for phones.. Wireless car play. Been a superb upgrade after our basic vw unit failed.

That Alpine unit looks good. I didn't want to go for a floating unit but now wish I had. If it is a dedicated VW unit the you might retain some of the steering wheel functionality.
Hmmm, how easy would it be to replace my Kenwood with the Alpine?

I like the look of that. Does it integrate all the steering wheel functions, parking camera and sensors?

Yes, retains all the steering wheel controls. Rear view camera is now much bigger and clearer with the HD screen.
