New T6.1 order delays

My Build Week 19 should be with me end of next week, so based on that about 6 to 7 weeks.
My build week was WK20, but according to Amy it’s still in build so not sure what the holdup is. Mine is also a Ocean 150, two tone (which I guess is another step in the build), tow bar, bigger wheels.

Your van sounds like the twin of mine which went into build last week. Same colour, same options and same wheels. When did yours go into build?
Spoke to Dave M over at Eurovans (top chap) and great news - van has gone from a 20 to a 38 (at port).

He thinks that it will have departed within a week heading to Sheerness and by his numbers and process we should have by the end of the month - fingers crossed for a series of July and Aug trips.

He said that VW are pushing these through quick to be registered by end June (Q1 results and all that) so he is confident of the timeline. Let's see, but we hoped end June to mid July so our internal clock is still fine.

For info we are a July 21st 2021 fully loaded Ocean in white + green and the only options we don't have is sport packs, towbar and the 4M. So the 204, Palmerston alloys, shower, wood floors, upgraded satnav system, all the self driving toys same as our Tiguan and many other bits and bobs.

All the "extras" are bought and filling the garage, just musing on top mattress now that does not take a load of space and how best to store my road bike inside and keep it safe and un-nickable. Some sort of rail mounted and removable travel case is my current thinking - like this - https://www.probikekit.co.uk/cycling-accessories-nc/b-w-bike-box/11185499.html

Keep the faith...
My dealer also has finally said the magic phrase ‘your Cali is at Emden’, at least it is the next stage, though still cautious not to get too excited about a potential delivery by end of month…

Speak of the devil... Just an hour after I posted this message, look at what landed in my inbox:
And so, after almost 14 months, it's finally here...

It's ridiculously gorgeous. Downside of this color is that everyone stops to look at it or have a chat. Not exactly discreet. But so lovely...

Picked it up yesterday afternoon but we've been so busy at home and work that we haven't even had time to unpack anything, fill the water or find a gas bottle. But everything seems to be there.

As often seems to be the cases, there are a few issues:
  • Engine stop/start system: loud clicks whenever the engines stops and again when it starts up.
  • Inductive phone charging feature: doesn't work. Phone starts charging for a second and then stops charging. The Discovery Media system displays an error message: "Unable to charge the mobile phone in the storage tray. Please remove all items from the tray except for the phone".
  • ACC: missing altogether.
Dealer is off today but he'll be back tomorrow so I'll see what he says. In the meantime, I'm enjoying what works :)

Had an update from my Sales Guy today , week 22 may 30 moved to week 28 july 11 ordered 4 October 2021,Asked if he had any other info regards build and said he had nothing. So no price increase or side assists problems lol.

Looks fantastic mate!
But ACC Missing Completely??? What is that all about!?

After everything thats happened in the last couple of weeks I'll just be happy to get the Coast I ordered.
Just got an update yesterday. My Coast was originally supposed to be delivered to supplying dealer 18th June but apparently vans with manual transmissions have been pushed back to October production, so we’re looking like December at the soonest now. Hopefully you get a good outcome soon mate.

Hi all, still waiting for our Ocean....ordered July 21. As I mentioned in an earlier post we bit the bullet and booked flights to Berlin for our planned holiday. Then the following events happened. Wife travelled out of Manchester airport on a business trip which was carnage so she asked if there was an alternative way of getting to Germany. I then contact Amy at Liverpool to hire a GC for the trip and she even sorted me discount (thanks), however, when I spoke to the hire team you can not take them out of the UK. 5 minutes on net and I found a nice transporter conversion which was booked there and then....so we do get to travel across to Berlin in a van.....not ours but its a start! I then logged on to Sleazy Jet to change the date of the flights to visit the Christmas market in Berlin and as I was doing this they cancelled the flights which enabled me to get a full refund....result.....I did buy a lottery ticket or two as i felt lucky....didn't win, maybe I pushed a bit to far.

Go and knock on the door of the factory while you're in Germany. Ask where your van is.

Beautiful! I hope you get those niggles sorted, but enjoy in the meantime.

I don't know if it matters, but in mid-2020 I heard from two different official VW dealers that large buyers such as rental companies (eg ViaVie in Belgium) or 'stock sellers' /non official dealers (eg mycalifornia.eu in the Netherlands) but also autoebid with you do not get priority for deliveries (which they unofficial got). On the contrary, it was advised not to place any large orders. This was to prevent the already double as before delivery times from turning upside down even more.
My suspicion is that they continued to order, resulting in crazy delivery times (we: 20 months on the right one: 8 months on a red one we didn’t order and then another 12 months on the right one, an ascot grey one). Each his idea about this, just saying. One can think about it, it could have happened that way, but of course there are other factors that were already there and other came along.
But boy, am I glad we waited: I love the ascot grey (red is also lovely but you know, wanted and ordered a grey one) and believe it or not: there are not that many in ascot grey (where I live). Saw an ocean -ours a coast- yesterday at the dealer but much more other colours or colour combinations. One thing: they all look great!
For those who are still waiting: I understand you but when it arrives, you will be the happiest person on earth.
Greetings

Apparently VW are struggling with parts for the side assist, which comes standard with the oceans. What most have been offered is a choice to remove this standard option in order to receive their van earlier. Only asking because we ordered ours at the start of September and don’t have any build week.

We’re being told we’ll get ours in September because we’ve opted to keep the side assist feature
Worth keeping side assist IMO.

Hot off the press from SMG Tonbridge... My van ordered 10 Oct 21 will be going into build in Sept 22, so will arrive either Oct or Nov, so a good 12 months or so delay. I'm glad I bought a used one off them for the summer. Also a new delay I think for vans with two tone paint for some reason.

So much room at your dealers! In the UK they always seem to be playing how many vehicles can we fit into the smallest possible space.

At least it’s “on its way”! We ordered same time as you. Ocean 4M. I asked the dealer the other day for an update as we have seen a nice VW72 plate and he said it would be quite safe to order it. So September at the earliest for us. Ours not two tone btw.

Ours is two tone, went into build May 18th and apparently it’s still in build. Maybe it’s the paint they’ve run out of…!

Two tone bay leaf green / white by any chance? Mine is single colour bay leaf green and still in build since around then apparently.

What other options did you order? I went with a few but wondering if it's the tow bar, Discovery Pro or the tyre pressure monitoring.

Also ordered with wood floor, 18" Terissina alloys and 80L fuel tank.
