New T6.1 order delays

Resisted the temptation to chase online chat for a few weeks, but got the better of me just now. Been bumped back yet another week. Our Coast ordered 28th Nov, now has a provisional build week 23 (7th June), so I guess that means mid August at the dealers? Was convinced the additional 10 weeks that had been added a few weeks ago was a worse case scenario and I was all set for that to have been reduced - not extended again. Not holding out for the summer now.

This is odd because I've spoken to Tonbridge VW this week who said if I ordered this week I would have the van by mid April!! So how can this be when existing orders are being told June?

I'd be keen to know. We ordered from them. I have only reach out to them the once since placing the order in November. No updates from them, but I think both the salesmen I had dealings with have been furloughed. Maybe they are completely out of the loop? Not realising the situation that has developed whilst away? My order form gives an estimated delivery date 31st March, but we all know that is a pipe dream now eh?

It seems that very few on here have 'confirmed' build dates so at present not many of us know what to expect. We've had 6 different potential build weeks given to us in the last 2 weeks ranging from wk6 to wk17. According to today's update, it's wk14. Basically, no one knows.

I ordered a 150 on 8 October and expect it in April...

VW chat told me this morning mine is unconfirmed build week 14 (w/c 5 April). I ordered start of Nov. My dealer told me a week and half ago an unconfirmed build week 6. They said they would update me next week.

Anyone got indicative dates for the 204 4motion version yet..??

This is for a Coast.

Should have said a 204...4 Motion...Ocean....there is something poetical about how that sounds!

it all seems to be going quiet here ad I think we can all see VW are giving no real information about anything either to us or the dealers

Probably because they don't know. Reference other posts about computer chip availability and the effects of Covid on suppliers and the supply chain.

I understand that....but it would be nice have a little info to give us a light at then end of the tunnel, I ordered mine mid August and heard nothing

A monthly call is the least dealers could do. They should know SOMETHING...if VW aren't keeping the dealers involved they should. They are all part of the Volkswagen company, and passing the buck shows contempt for their customers. This forum told me about the semiconductor supply issue. If it is an issue for VW I'd expect to hear that from my dealer.

I don't know how you lot all sit there waiting.
I ordered this Tuesday, picking it up on my way home from work tomorrow that's a whole 4 days I've had to wait & that's too long!
20 miles on the clock, registered 3 weeks ago.
Ok its not my first choice of colour, the wheels need changing etc
Just hoping the weather is better for the weekend so I can start on the detailing & get a ceramic coating on it.

That looks very smart - congratulations & enjoy tinkering in lockdown!

I was told from the outset the wait will be 10-12 months, back in mid Nov when I placed the deposit. That timing was unequivocal, so patience is key.

Interesting in August we were given Jan build but that was before the 204 issue or the now additional chip issue, that is if there is one in a Cali which I guess there is, so June if it’s 10 months we’ll have to keep caravanning ..... whenever that is allowed !!

I agree with all you have said, I have tried all tactics but no joy. I have driven BMW for many years and still do have an X5 which I am selling when the Cali arrives which will act as our tow car for our caravan to expand our options. This is my 5th X5 and I have found BMW to be be a brilliant brand to deal with and it has shown to me how poor VW are at customer support. I fear for the future if I have any problems with my new vehicle I can see life will be a battle if I have any issues. It is a fear I should not have on a £70k plus vehicle.
The one and only consolation is that we are all in lockdown so would be unable to enjoy our new purchase to the full at the moment, plus we will all get it on the 2021 plate which I didn’t expect when I ordered it last August 17th.
I wonder also in respect of the engine data if VW are worried about releasing information as they are still not certain of the performance and are worried about another legal challenge down the road if they are found to be fudging the figures.
I’ve just been informed by vw ,my ocean I orderd in October is now to heavy with all the extras, because of the new RDE2 and new emissions
And the dealer I brought from will be contacting me

Did they suggest which options you need to drop to comply? 80 litre tank and spare wheel are the obvious ones, but what else?
Maybe VW will ditch the double glazing and electric roof soon?

Say adios to that 80L fuel tank. That's what happened to my 199/4Mo Coast build.

Since my car will have the new MAR motor it will not be built before W18, thats beginning of May. Seems summer will be in danger for sure..

Besides the 80L tank option the only other 'weighty' options were the removable tow bar, and spare wheel. Coast doesn't have double glazing or motorized roof mechanism.
