Noisy awning

I've had my California for a few months now and didn't notice the noise at first but after taking it out a few times the awning has a loud squeak when you hot a bump in the road.
It's loud and annoying.
All the campers I test drive at dealers all had awnings and none had this noise.
Is it common or does it sound like it needs to be replaced?

The awning Try very carefully winding the awning in a little bit tighter. Be very careful as over tightening can strip gearbox teeth. New gearbox is £70.
