OCEAN to BEACH

Depends on what you buy the van for.

If it's to be almost anywhere at anytime then I would have found it exceedingly difficult to cook outside when the snow was up to the windows.
Yes, but you don’t have to have a ‘fitted’ stove to cook inside, you can use a portable stove if you need or choose to.

Borris

Kids sleep downstairs not me
Washing up - its not the only thing you can use a sink for, it has something called a tap as well which you can use for things like filling kettles, brushing teeth etc
Grey water - what do you do with yours then?
Passenger space - plenty of room in the back already for the 2 I carry.
Boot space - you don't appear to have any!
Before you can fill your kettle from your tap in your little sink, you have to fill the Ocean with water so it can come out of the tap. We cut out the middle man, less effort is required to fill the kettle direct from the water carrier.

You got a magic water carrier that fills itself up? and a kettle that walks round to the boot on its own.

I'm not convinced yet that there's less effort involved.

If you had said you just dip the kettle in the reservoir I might have agreed with you.

So many times I’ve thought what an enormous PITA it’s is to put the hose pipe in the filler for five minutes!! Come on , surely you can do better than that?
Just think how much extra space you could have at home if you rip out your kitchen.

Knocking up a Cream tea whilst on the Channel tunnel
watching 5 people climb out of a luxury Merc in front of you, all stiff
without even a drink or a crumb.

Priceless. :D

Oh for goodness sake, you’ve obviously no sense of humour!

It’s Volkswagens fault all this Beach vs Ocean stuff. They got the name wrong.
They should have called the Beach, a Bed on Wheels. Principally that’s what it is.
Btw, im not knocking it. It serves a purpose.
Point being, the Ocean isn’t a Motorhome, it’s a Campervan…

I love these Ocean vs Beach debates.

I don't know if I have posted this photo before, but with the bench seat in position to fold down to the bed, I can get all this *below* the multiflex in our Beach.

I bet you couldn't do that in an Ocean!

Any post can turn into a Beach/Ocean debate it's a Cali law. Bit like towel rack/bike racks.....
Ahhh! We can adapt Godwin's law for this forum:
Godwin's law, short for Godwin's law (or rule) of Nazi analogies, is an Internet adage asserting that as an online discussion grows longer (regardless of topic or scope), the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Adolf Hitler approaches 1.

Why do you want to pack all those storage boxes when you could have just had them built in with an ocean? :shocked

Just winding you up ....

Don’t have to, fortunately. The boot just carries things that might be needed. Barbacue, spare gas cylinder, wet suits, spare pegs, odds & sods, spare bulbs, stool drinks table. Nothing needed on arrival or over night.

If you type the following into the search function:

PULL OUT BOOT SHELF (CALICAP)

And then read post #19 onwards, you will see how my my original set up was arrived at.

Also try typing in:

HAS ANYONE GOT A "DOCK" CAMPING KITCHEN?

In post #57 and again in post #104 onwards, I've explained how our setup has since evolved.

What we have now is practical, versatile and suits us brilliantly.

The only thing that still needs to be resolved is the stove. We currently use two Campingas 3000btu single burner stoves that screw directly onto a 907 cylinder but they are very much a temporary measure. I have been waiting for the Dock Kitchen chap to produce his new twin burner stove that compliments and fits inside the Dock Kitchen but that seems to be taking an age to reach the production phase. I am currently thinking of getting a Primus Tupike twin burner stove which has alot of advantages. However I have been unable to source one anywhere.
Just bought a tupike from Primus.eu I’ll be at slimbridge so you can check the fit in your fancy cooking station if you like…

Has you one arrived yet? Did you have to pay duty?

But they can be removed from the Beach. Why would you want to drive around with storage boxes when you are not using them.

Having to load up each time, sorry, takes away some of the enjoyment and spontaneity.
Weather good for tomorrow so decided 1/2 hr ago to take advantage. Fridge already on so loaded some milk, bacon, eggs and few other bits. Pick up some cream cakes on way out tomorrow. Everything else on board.
