Can anyone give me this information
I'm changed the oil filter on my T4 2.5 TDI.
The oil filter came out complete with the shaft that screwed into the block.
If I remove the shaft from the oil filter and screw it back into the block can anyone tell me what the torque setting is for this shaft in the block?

I can’t answer your exact question but the Oil Filter requires 23 Nm so I presume the shaft would be higher 25 or so or it would be unscrewed every time the filter is removed. Seems as if the oil filter was tightened to a greater torque figure than the shaft.

HOW TO - Change your engine oil & filter 2.5TDi with pics ...
The VW T4 Transporter oil filter torque is 23 Nm (Newton meters), according to a replacement guide from AUTODOC UK. It's recommended to use a torque wrench for accurate tightening. When replacing the oil filter, ensure the rubber seal is lubricated with fresh oil and the filter is tightened to the specified torque, according to AUTODOC.

Many thanks for the info,
There is also a thin nut on the shaft is this to help screwing in the shaft? & gives us the stop for the shaft itself in the block?

I'm sorry I can't help you with that there is the T4 Forum that might have more knowledge of this engine.

After oil/ filter change, terrible noise at low revs
ok on increasing revs, noise seems to be from timing area.
Tensioner was given no problems before and was replaced professionally, that sounds like from this sort of area,
HELP!

Okay it's me again, could it be a stock pressure relief valve? Any proper mechanics out there? Oh thank you Darling
