Poll: What Mattress Topper do you use?

Just to clarify for us newbies awaiting delivery of our Cali, can we have a quick survey of peoples topper choice and whether they use it on top of the VW comfort mattress or not. Is the Zonesleep topper or Comfortz topper comfy enough on their own?

The Zonesleep topper looks really thin, is this enough on just the seat bed??
Also the Comfortz topper looks thicker and cheaper but does it get too hot?

Comfortz can make one in non-memory foam if you, like me, find memory foam too hot.

Zonesleep is very comfy, compact, breathable and well made.

Highly recommended.

For what its worth, after my hire vehicle jaunt I can categorically state that sleeping direct on the seats is a contradiction in terms!

Like the new vote results too. Although it is not clear if the zonesleep and comfortz voters are using these toppers instead of, or in addition to, the VW mattress as your question asks.

Just had our Cali delivered and we have also been reading the good reviews of the Zonesleep topper, is there anywhere we can test one out before purchase?

Acer, we hired a Cali with the vw comfort mattress which was way too hard for us. We have not specced it on our order because of that and now want to know which topper is recommended for use straight on the seat.

Kernow, is your zone sleep directly on the rear seats?

Agreed, the VW one is far from Comfort ! We ended up selling ours on Ebay. Tempted by the Zonesleep but its a bit pricey

If you sold the vw mattress and are tempted by zonesleep what are you using at the moment?

I also wondered if anyone used those thermarest self-inflating thingys underneath the vw comfort or other topper. They are very quick to use and store nicely too.

We purchased two duvalays but we are shocked at the amount of room they take up so these will probably be going on Ebay aswell in new year.

This is typical cali accessory buying, it takes several purchases to get it right, we are on our 3rd kettle aswell :lol:

Back to the toppers (we seem to have two threads going on this!): in the SE (I don't know what happens in the Beach) the VW comfort mattress folds in three but the rearmost third is much thicker to make the parcel shelf level with the seats. If this mattress is not used an alternative piece would be needed.

We have a Comfortz mattress in the roof which as it's in two parts is easy to take out and use downstairs on the odd occasion we sleep downstairs.
Really comfy up and down.

The bag you get with a Zonesleep is incredibly useful too; we can fit the mattress plus sheets and pillows in it. Still doesn't take up much room.
Friends have a Cali with the Brandrup mattress; it's huge and rather sweaty.

Directly on the seat. Transforms the bed from an instrument of torture to a pretty decent (albeit narrow) sleeping area.
Unless we're driving a long way, we tend to just fold it into the boot for daytime use. Very easy.

We use a 2 inch memory foam topper and it is comfy, but only if we sleep with our heads towards the front of the van, because of the step.
Not ideal as pillows fall off the bed and -sleeping so close to the porta potti? :?
We eagerly await the results of this thread for the perfect solution!

Our cushion over the parcel shelf is level with the seat cushions but is much softer so there is an uncomfortable ledge when sleeping
