Newbie, so forgive me.. I have looked at other threads but not sure what to do. I have filled the water tank, and when I turn on the tap I can hear the pump running but no water coming from tap?
What do I check first? Simple steps please! Thank you

Has it ever worked for you, or is it the 1st time. If the 1st time when you filled up with water is the drain valve shut on the rear water tank.

Only collected her yesterday, so first time, but she has done 7000 moles so presuming it has been working in the past.
Water tank is full, drain valve is closed....

Ok, so the Tap microswitch is working. The Pump is receiving power as it is turning.

Only 2 possibilities I can think of:-
1. Follow the water pipe as much as you can, from tap or tank to make sure there are no kinks.
2. You will have to Open the water tank to check the Pump is plugged into the end of the water pipe.

As the vehicle is still in warranty I suggest only superficial checks, and if you feel further dismantling and rebuilding of the system is necessary you have a VW dealer carry it out.

You may not only end up making it worse but also give VW wriggle room to step away from warranty obligations.

Before we had our pump replaced this used to happen quite a lot, particularly with the tank full to the brim. Sometimes opening the filler cap helped, or sucking on the tap itself to get the water flow started.

As said above could be diffrent things causing this.
The pump could be stuck , a good tap against it can help.
Broken ....needs replacement
The tube could come lose from the exit of the pump.

All the above needs to be checked by opening the tank from above .
The lid is located under the bottom of the rear wardrobe next to the fridge.
Take the round plastic cap out in the bottom of the wardrobe and you see the lid.

Could be the rubber hose got a knack as WG says but thats a rare one imo. but needs a check.

Could be the tap is broken or stuck inside by "chalk" (translated how we say it in Dutch)

The fact you hear the pump making noise does not mean it's ok. it still can be broken or stuck.

Letting some air in the tank opening the fillercap like @skinnywhippet says is worth a try , could be vaccuum.

There are treads on how to open the watertank , changing the pump , changing the tap....

Or you could go to the dealer....

Or you could go to the dealer....
@hotel california, I think you must have better dealers in the Netherlands than we do here.

You may get lucky here, but it's more likely you'll get someone trying to fix it who has never worked on a Cali's water system, has never read the manual and certainly wouldn't be able to come up with a short list of likely causes... Before they start breaking your Cali and covering it in oily finger prints.

I am Belgian ( Dutch speaking) live in Belgium and bought my Cali in Belgium but always go to this VW California specialist in Holland

For me 160km one way.....
They are aces in the bussines (15years now) and got very good connections with the factory .
They only sell Cali's and Westfalia as official dealer.
I feel very very very....comfortable giving my keys to them!

Thanks everyone, as we only picked her up on Friday, I will let the dealer have a look first... hopefully it's something simple.
