hey there.

my cali t6 floor in the living area and (2) rails after 2 years and 60k kms are ruined a lot.

i used to protect floor with a carpet and nothing on rails.

how are yours?

is it normal to have em with lot of signs and small bumps?

is there a way to protect them?

We just use a weaved wool welsh floor rug/carpet a square cut to fit the rear floor area folds over when bench pulled forward. Into washing machine as required. No issues on floor have been using the same rug since 2012.

We use a Brandrup mat for gally area with moveable rubber backed rug on top. No issues (just checked).

and what about rails when you move the bench?

mines are full of bumps due to sand/pebbles and so on

There's a foldable carpet that covers the rails and folds up when you need to slide rear seat forward to make the bed . No problems with the drawer under the seatbit runs over the carpet.

Could the rails be protected with helicopter tape and still allow the seats to slide? It guess it would get scruffy but would be replaceable.

I had some carpet tiles left over and cut them to fit between the rails. The drawer slides over them. I've also got a washable rug (Dunelm) that goes on top and rolls up easily.

You can replace the Brushed Aluminium inserts if you wish.

Thanks for posting that.
I always thought it would be the complete rails.

It´s going on my list as my rubbers are a bit tatty in places.
Although, i imagine it to be a big job, bench seat out which will be a first
then try to remove the old ones that are stuck to the vinyl then glue in the
new ones, its 2 days of a job.

I´ll think about it :thumb

I think the Aluminium inserts are just clipped in, no glueing required.

Cheers.
I´ll get them priced up. I´ll have to weigh up how
much it bugs me in monetary terms. At the mo it doesn´t
bother me to the tune of 300€ which it could quite be for the 3 rails.

You don't have a breakdown of that floor rail plan where you can just buy
the rubbers do ya. :D

I think the Aluminium insert and Rubber come bonded together.

Are you being to precious...?
My old van at 6 years and well used didn’t seem to have any major rail or floor damage. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t perfect.
But the materials used in a Cali are quite robust and hard wearing.

No kids, no dogs a Brandrup two rail carpet that fits over the middle rail and treat as at home, no out door shoes soiled with stones dirt etc. Floor in mint condition. has worked for us on the last two vans.

A right bundle of fun :headbang :headbang

The rubber has torn off about 300mm
I think i can live with it for now but its good to know
a replacement is only part of the rail and not the whole rail. IMG_5931.JPG

can t quote you all but lot of solutions around here :)

i ll give a try to the foldable carpet,it seems perfect to me,my dog's nails are knifes and he usually sleep between bench and seats (i used to sleep mostly downstair)also all my climbing gears does a big part in it,preparing, moving all the stuff often in the middle of the night is not so healthy for my cali.

Jeez! Are you guys using your Calis to transport sheep? Mine is now entering its 8th summer and done 62,000 miles and the floor and rails are absolutely fine. No carpets or coverings. The van is used for dogs and hill walkers with clumpy boots. The dog doesn't have clumpy boots, I accept that.
