I have waited until now to tell my bellows story, as I have just got my Cali back. It's only 7 months old.
A couple of week ago, whilst in Holland, I noticed a small tear in the bellows, just behind the front near-side bar. It was caused by a distortion of the plastic strip sewn into the canvas, forcing the canvas inward on closure - this is different to the "scissoring" by the rear callipers reported by several others.
I took it into VW where I bought it, Vindis, St Ives, Cambs. I have to say, I was very impressed with their customer service. James the Cali tech was excellent. He supported my stance that this was not user error. VW agreed to replace the bellows on the warranty. James had it in for 2 days and it's now as good as new. Vindis gave me a Cali Beach courtesy car. Overall I was very pleased.
(regarding the courtesy car, their standard excess was £750 which they couldn't reduce so I used my insurance which covers loan vehicles and has an excess of only £100)
