replacement of original radio in 2015 cali

Thanks again MattBW for the help. All done today and mostly working out of the box. Like you I now have a mic in the coin tray which works surprisingly well. BT for the phone was fairly straightforward once I paddled around in a few menus. At the moment I cannot stream BT audio for some reason. Otherwise, all is good apart from the mounting screw which I lost to the innards of the dashboard. GPS aerial is just shoved up under the dash and works very well.

I'm very happy with the new radio setup except I cannot stream bluetooth audio from my phone. I can't find any settings in the MFD or on the head unit to change. My phone (Samsung S5) will not let me turn media audio on for the VW connection although it works fine for number of other connections. Has anybody faced/solved this issue?

It will need enabling for BT streaming via vcds or a VAG device.

I went back to square one and deleted all evidence of the bluetooth profile from the van and the phone for the third time. Then I set it all up again and the bluetooth streaming is now working. So now, having decided I'm some sort of car audio expert, I've ordered a microphone grille from Germany. I'm not looking forward to cutting the headlining.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the the Discover system from the T6 is a bit difficult to fit into the T5. Different canbus system or something so it may prove more difficult than just using VCDS to set it up.
Hope you can get it sorted.
BTW. you don't need a special tool to get the radio out of the T5, just take the torx screws out and it slides out.

My dealer said the system from the T6 cannot be fitted into a T5... I'm currently looking to upgrade to something with apple CarPlay.....
