Hi.

Does anyone know how to get hold of the front roof wind deflector?
(The one placed above the windshield / in front of the elevating roof.)

I have some rust under the wind deflector. Having the windshield replaced due to damage and I'm planning to remove the rust at the same time. Not sure the fitted wind deflector will survive to be refitted, so looking to get a spare.

The local VW dealer couldn't find the part in their databases, so I'm at bit lost.
Not even sure what the part is called.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

You could try breakers yards...
There are a few who specialise in T4s (and ultimately Cali's).
For example this guy in the Netherlands (https://www.marktplaats.nl/verkopers/24577678.html), has two Cali's listed for breaking (though both are damaged in just the wrong place for you!), but worth making contact.
There are also 'Cali Campers' in the UK (look them up on Facebook).
A few other possibilities:

Good luck!

I suspect they need to look a little harder. I believe the part(s) ours after are on this diagram, numbers 20/20a.

Thanks to both of you. That's amazing.
Sent an email to the VW dealer with the part number asking them to have a second look. I'll be starting there before looking into options.

Got an answer from the local VW dealer today
That part has expired and is no longer stocked.
That's not what I was looking for.

I see that it is available some places online in USA for some over $100.

It looks like I have to hope to be able to save the one that is on the vehicle - as the other parts are not likely to arrive before the holidays due to the Norwegian customs processing time of packages.

Does anyone know if riding without this wind deflector would be a problem?
(Will not be travelling at speeds above 80 kph / 50 mph)

That's very frustrating. The parts website didn't seem to suggest it was no longer available. I guess the dealers information will be more up to date.

I wouldn't know about travelling without it in place. I've seen a few T4 conversions with a similar, maybe identical style roof that don't have a deflector. I guess it's there to reduce any 'lift' caused by air flowing under the front of the roof. This could possibly strain the catch, but is more likely to stop water and airborne junk being pushed underneath and ruining the canvas. Your dealer may be able to shed more light on this though.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi, new to this forum so please forgive me if i make any fauxpas, my windshield on my T5 Cali has started to corode and i'd like to remove it and have it sprayed, would i be right in thinking that it also is stuck on with tape?
Also my doors wont stay open anymore, the spring mechanism has weakened over the years could anybody help with any suggestions.
Thanks Chris

Lots about this in the T5 section of the forum. Even some specific threads dealing with the issue and how resolve it. In some cases you may be able to have it repaired by VW under warranty as I understand it’s a fairly common problem.

You need to look at the “roof corrosion section“ on this forum….

The original part is from Brandrup, Top-rail spoiler and still available, its quite tuff and should peel off it’s held on with double sided tape, stick it back on with Sika or similar.

Thanks for this information. Maybe a little late, but still find it valuable.
Thought I should save my old wind deflector but never got around to do it ... so have been driving abound without it. Have gone fairly well, but crossing mountain passes mid winter have sometimes felt cold "falling" from the roof. Unsure if it is related to the missing wind deflector.
Will think that it have the most function in heavy rain, so that the water doesn't force its way under the roof. Maybe?
