Rotherhithe Tunnel

Blackwall being the obvious alternative for me. I’ll check.
I'm assuming you live in Lambeth - so do we. Since getting fined for going through the Rotherhithe tunnel a couple of years ago (see above somewhere), we now just go over Tower Bridge, do the apparently-permitted U-turn, & head east. Within a couple of minutes you're where you would have been if you'd gone through the tunnel, so no problem.

Although oddly I never got a fine.

Anyone knows about the entrance height limitation barrier of Rotherhithe tunnel can accept 2.05m? My cali has upgraded solar and wheels and now it seems it's 2.05m. I don't know whether I will be stuck at the entrance or any scratch top the roof.

Thanks

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/rotherhithe-tunnel-restrictions?cid=rotherhithe-tunnel

"Vehicles are not safe to travel through the Rotherhithe Tunnel if they are:

  • More than 2 metres (6.5 feet) high OR
  • More than 2 metres (6.5 feet) wide OR
  • Goods vehicles weighing more than 2 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW)
Drivers of these vehicles could be fined up to £160 for every journey they make through the tunnel."

I always avoid the Rotherhithe tunnel as the restrictions are confusing even for lower than 2m. There are lots of comments about it in this thread. I like the Woolwich ferry when it is running!

The issue is weight rather than size, & you are likely to get a fine. Lots of info on this thread.

Nasty little tunnel built in 1906, very narrow with tight bends and pavement either side mainly used by scooters and motorcycles for overtaking.
Try the new Silvertown tunnel (toll) instead
